Arsh Grover takes down back-to-back Sunday Stacks titles

9Stacks is gaining momentum in the Indian poker world, conducting high-stakes online tournaments every week. They also give players a chance to fly abroad and participate in international poker tournaments. Just recently, they launched the Aussie100 contest, where 100 players Indian players will get a chance to fly to Aussie Millions, an annual poker tournament that takes place at the Crown Melbourne every year. 15 such packages have already been given out as of yet.

The Sunday Stacks tournament, one of the Big Ticket tournaments hosted every Sunday on 9Stacks, has a guaranteed prize pool of INR 10 lakhs. The tournament is one of 9Stacks’ signature ones, and always creates a lot of excitement around it every weekend.

Yesterday’s Sunday Stacks saw a total of 103 participants and 33 re-buys, with top 20 players being awarded prizes. The buy-in of the tournament is a fixed INR 5,500 and begins at 5 pm. There is no limit to re-buying in the tournament.

The tournament has a high buy-in and attracts a lot of pros as well, which is sure to intensify the game a bit more. After a long grind and defeating a couple of known players, seasoned online player Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover won the first place and took home a staggering amount of INR 2.60 lakhs, beating Amresh ‘Termi’ Kumar in the final heads-up battle. The cherry on the cake for Grover is that this is his second consecutive victory, emerging as the champion of last Sunday’s tournament, among 136 entries and 47 re-buys and winning INR 2.55 lakhs in all.

GutshotMagazine got in touch with Grover after his win. He was elated with his poker play yesterday, especially winning the tournament twice in a row, saying “I played pretty solid throughout and ran pretty pure in all-in situations when it mattered to get the back to back W’s”. Even winning once is a big achievement, and Grover won it twice! In a row! That has to be a solid achievement in anyone’s career. “Yesterday was one of the softest days in online poker. There were overlays on every poker site as the ongoing WPT India had everyone busy”, Grover reflected.

The tournament also saw Goonjan Mall, aka ‘gmtesting’, another known player, win the 4th place of INR 1 lakh.  Sumit Sapra aka ‘mrgr33n’ also cashed out by finishing 8th yesterday. These guys also won a lot of online tournaments in the past and are seasoned players themselves, with Sapra winning the 5 for 5 Spartan Poker tournament and cashing out INR 5 lakhs yesterday itself.
