Arsh Grover beats Sandeep Varma to Sunday SuperStack title

Every online poker company in India hosts their biggest weekly tournaments on Sunday. This is because you can often get the biggest fields to play on this week-off. Spartan Poker hosts something known as the Sunday SuperStack INR 30 Lakh GTD which recently even got a bump in its guarantee because of continuous crushing that occurs every Sunday!

Yesterday’s tournament kicked off at 8pm with each entry having to pay INR 5,500 if they wished to buy in to this tournament. The entry is on the higher side but so are the prizes in SuperStack with 633 entries combining to create a new prize pool of INR 31.65 Lakh last night. This was then shared among the top 63 spots.

Coming out on top of the field and winning it clean was Arsh Grover, a youngster who has a number of titles to his name on Spartan Poker. This would be one of his biggest wins as he got past Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’ in heads-up last night to take down the Sunday SuperStack title along with the biggest prize.

Playing as ‘BigggTymeR’ on Spartan, Grover settled for nothing less than the top prize last night. In heads-up, he had a lead of 2:1 over Varma, the latter holding Ks Qd in the final hand and deciding to go in for a bluff. The board rolled out 9c 3h 5s Ac 7s and after a few smaller bets on the previous streets, Varma shoved on the river.

Grover had 4d 9d and didn’t have a great hand himself, but he decided to make the call anyway. It’s not something most players would expect so deep in a tournament, but Grover’s pair of Nines was enough to win him the title. As for Varma, he took home the runner-up prize.
