APT Vietnam Championships Event: 5 Indians progress to Day 2


Marking its third stop in 2019, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam is heated-up with a sizeable group of Indian participants whereas the entire country is still celebrating Akshay Nasa’s epic win in ME! The previous day commenced with the series’ second featured tournament, the Championships Event which guarantees VND 6 billion.

The starting flight, Day 1A attracted a total number of 66 players, each entering for VND 38 million buy-ins. The second biggest tournament of the 2019 APT Vietnam completed 8 rounds yesterday with only 36 survivors moving onto Day 2. Amassing the largest stack on Day 1A was the Terry Nguyen walking out with 219,000 chips. Closely following the native player was Filipino Kim Michael Enriquez with 193,800 chips.

The initial day itself enticed great many Indians, battling their way onto Day 2 including the WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer with 131,600 chips (7th), Yasheel Doddanavar bagging 120,000 chips (11th), Vivek Rughani with 98,700 (13th), Meherzad Munsaf with 94,300 chips (14th) who were all above the average stack of 91,667 except Laksh Pal Singh with 32,000 chips (33rd). More number of Indian participation is expected in two more starting flights before the registration ends.

With total live earnings of over $177k, the recent champion of 2019 APL Main Event and APT High Roller in Vietnam, Nguyen is now running for his very first Championships Event trophy. Other notable players advancing to Day 2 include Soo Jo Kim with 176,700 chips, Hamish Crawshaw bagging 105,300 chips, the Event #2 High Rollers and High Rollers Single Day champion in the on-going series, Joakim Andersson with 66,300 chips and others.
