APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event – Live Updates

Jacque Ramsden ships the Main Event title

APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event winner, Jacque Ramsden

The poker player from United Kingdom who went from having a 2:1 chip lead in the heads-up clash, and then had a 12: 1 chip lead—Jacque Ramsden added the APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event (ME) title to his list of achievements after he rivered a flush to nail the title.  The newly crowned ME winner had struck a deal at Level 31 with Tran and both the players decided to play for the trophy and $4,620. Well, the Brit won the trophy and the additional sum to take home a pay cheque of ₫2,324,912,200 ($99,080) and the second place finisher, Julien Tran had a payday of $94,460.

Jacque Ramsden (7♦ 4♦) moved all-in pre-flop and Julien Tran (3♠ 3♦) made the call even when it was risky. If Tran survived that would give him a double up of 2,900,000 chips. But if the hand went Ramsden’s way, he would go down in history as the new APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event winner.

The fanned out a flop of Q♠ 9♦ K♥ which kept Tran ahead with his one-pair, but the turn of 8♦ gave Ramsden a diamond flush draw which improved to a flush when an A♦ showed up on the river. That river card meant the English player took home the coveted APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event title.

Deepak Bothra

The only Indian survivor grinding in the APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event after Siddharth Karia and Nishant Sharma were eliminated—Deepak Bothra exits the game in the 10th position. The pro is taking home a pay cheque of ₫213,930,000 ($9,200).

Bothra (A♥ 5♠) threw in his last remaining chips (700,000) into the middle from the button position and his rival Hayato Kitajima (J♥ J♣) made the call. Kitajima had Bothra covered and now it was the latter who was hoping for a turnaround on the final table bubble.

The dealer fanned out a flop of 5♦ 4♦ 2♥. This gave Bothra 5-pair but he was still behind his rival’s Fishhooks. With a gutshot straight draw, Bothra must have prayed for a three on the turn or a five but the 2♦ came and both players had two pairs with Kitajima still leading. The river brought 7♥ and Bothra’s journey came to an end in the APT Phu Quoc 2023 Main Event. The Indian pro showcased some brilliant poker skills but sadly fell short and couldn’t make it to the final table.
