APT Philippines 2019 II in Resorts Manila’s new Grand Wing concluded its Day 2 with a small chunk of survivors heading to witness Day 3 of the biggest competition. The Championship Event saw a participation of various key players decorating the afternoon and spending tough hours grinding to take home prize money along with the APT Championships trophy and Championships Ring.
Yesterday wrapped another big day of the PHP 10 million GTD Main Event; 127 progressing from Day 1B and only 40 poker participants managed to make through Day 3. It was the rise of Filipino player John Niko Costiniano who ended as the chip leader of the day. The only player to take a seven-digit 1,070,000 chip stack so far.
Costiniano was up against Vietnam’s Cao Ngoc Anh, the first player to reach a million chips during the day. The board saw 8h 10h 10c 7c 2d and over 500k lying on the table. The Filipino claimed it for a full house with his hole card 8s 8d and rose up to make 1 million.
The Championships Event also allowed Indian players to progress from Day 1B namely Akshay Nasa and Jaideep Sajwan. Sajwan is now the only Indian to survive the battlefield, resting in the 21st position with 290,000 chips. He did well as he began Day 2 with an extremely short stack of just 21,000 chips.
Other notable players progressing the Day 3 include Kannapong Thanarattrakul (691,000), Gyeong Byeong Lee (431,000), Soo Jo Kim (361,000), Iori Yogo (357,000), Graeme Siow (255,000), Lester Edoc (188,000), John Tech (151,000), and Alexis Lim (67,000).
