APL Highroller: 9 Indians make Day 2

It has been an exciting week long series at the Asia Poker League taking place in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh city. The action is now entering the final stages at the Poker Pro Club as tomorrow is the final day of the series with the last couple of events on schedule set to take place from 1pm in the afternoon. However the big ticket tournament which is currently is the APL Highroller which saw many of the Indian contingent participate and a total of 9 Indian players have survived the two starting flights and will be playing in today’s Day 2 of this event.

The APL Highroller has a buy-in of VND 27,500,000 (~INR 80,000) and saw 170 entries taking part. 74 players have qualified for the final day’s play and we assume the top 20 places should take a share of the VND 4.25 billion (~INR 1.24 crore) prizepool by the end of action on Sunday night. India has already made its mark in this series with Devesh Thapar and Adarsh Jayappa winning APL titles earlier last week. Not surprising the big Indian contingent which took part in the Main Event also had money finishers in Dhaval Mudgal (81st), Manoj Pentakota (63rd). Sahil Agarwal (32nd) and the afore-mentioned Jayappa (15th) went the deepest for Team India in the Main Event. Singapore’s Lee Yin How won the Main Event last night for a little over INR 43 Lakhs.

Many of these players are participating in the Highroller event and here’s a look at the Indian players (with the current stacks) who have survived Friday and Saturday’s HR starting flights to make it to today’s Day 2 action:-

  • Dhaval Mudgal – 483,000
  • Manoj Pentakota – 146,000
  • Kalyan Chakravarthy – 495,000
  • Sahil Agarwal – 198,000
  • Rajeev Kanjani – 310,000
  • Ravi Priya – 300,000
  • Sumit Sapra – 242,000
  • Neeraj Kumar – 181,000
  • Zarvan Tumboli – 305,000

From the information currently available, the chip leader is Vietnamese player Vu Manh Phong who leads the field of 74 survivors with a stack of 1.11 million chips.

Stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com tomorrow as we bring you the round of the final day’s action from the APL Highroller.
