Alejandro Lococo Wins WSOP Paradise Triton Million for $12,070,000

WSOP Paradise is currently ongoing, and the list of winners includes some interesting names. One of the most prestigious events from the tournament series, the WSOP Paradise Triton Million, sees Alejandro Lococo ship the prize and the trophy. He won a life-altering $12,070,000.

WSOP prize pools have always been humongous, among the biggest in poker history. Lococo’s $12 Million win is now among the top 70 WSOP cashouts of all time, a list that includes Antonio Esfandiari’s $18 Million haul at the 2012 WSOP Event 55—The Big One for One Drop, which had a prize pool of $42,666,672.

Alejandro Lococo won the event that brought 96 entrants for an ever-enticing $48 Million prize pool, which featured some of the most popular and successful poker players in the world. Of course, the buy-in of $50,0000 ensured that only the best of the best decided to try their skills at poker, including Ben Heath and Stephen Chidwick, the latter of whom had more than $60 million in total live poker earnings. Heath, too, has a total live earnings of more than $30 Million. With this win, Lococo has propelled himself higher in the poker industry.

This is by far his best live cash. His previous best live cash was in 2021, at Event #67 of WSOP 2021, the Main Event, where he ranked 7th and took home $1,225,000. With this win, the Argentinian poker player places himself much higher on all poker lists – a great achievement for any player.  Lococo has been playing for a while, though, with his first cash, according to Hendon Mob, being in 2016, when he ranked 4t at the ARS$5,000 No Limit Hold’em – Second Chance event at Circuito Argentino De Poker – CAP 2016, Buenos Aires, taking home ARS$ 49,782. He grabbed the headlines at WSOP 2022. Putting all this into perspective is this: Lococo’s single haul is almost half of the total amount that Ben Heath has won in his career.

While he has been ranked 848 in the All-Time Money list, this win will definitely catapult him into the top 100 of the list. Again, this single win is proof of a poker player becoming popular -not to mention rich – with just his poker skills, resilience and grit. The WSOP Paradise Triton Million has enticed some of the biggest names in the industry to the felts, with India’s Santhosh Suvarna playing too. Launched in 2019 as part of the Triton Super High Roller Series, it was first held in London and featured the highest buy-in ever seen in poker history: a staggering £1,050,000 (approximately $1.3 million USD).

With this, Lococo becomes a WSOP bracelet winner as well, adding his name to poker and WSOP history. The WSOP bracelet is the most valuable piece of jewellery in the world of poker, and just winning increases a player’s stature to the highest level.  So, the bracelet win is in itself a massive achievement for Lococo. The tournament has 15 bracelet events, so it remains to be seen which other players win.

WSOP Paradise is one of the most integral parts of the WSOP lineup, and it will be interesting to see how many more unique winners the tournament series can create. WSOP, already the biggest brand in live poker, is now under the  GGPoker aegis, a company that has made a considerable impact in the online poker industry. With events like WSOP Paradise, it remains to be seen what’s new for the poker industry.
