AIGF successfully hosts the inaugural ‘PRO SERIES’

The All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) is the apex Industry body for Policy Advocacy and Regulation for online gaming in India, and they recently announced the launch of the ‘PRO SERIES’, an initiative with the primary goal of further spreading awareness about skill gaming in the country.

They successfully hosted the ‘Pro Series’, which took place at the Deltin Royale in Goa on 4th September, being a media-only event. This was the start of a series of initiatives aimed to create awareness about online Skill Gaming in India by AIGF. The first edition was specific to the game of Poker and it saw a ‘MASTERCLASS’ involving some of India’s best Poker pros.

Nikita Luther, Kunal Patni and Aditya Agarwal demonstrated how the game is a mind-sport requiring skill, mathematics, decision making and grit, thus establishing that the level of skill is high in Poker. Luther is famous for recently winning a WSOP gold bracelet in Las Vegas, just the second by an Indian poker player, while Agarwal and Patni are also very popular pros in the circuit.

The event was flagged-off by a welcome address by Manish J Adnani, Business Head (Poker), Delta Corp. This was followed by an introduction to the AIGF Pro Series as an extension to their Skill Games Charters by Roland Landers, CEO, AIGF.

Poker has experienced exponential growth in the number of operators as well as the players in India. However, as with other online skill games, there still exists some ambiguity regarding the various skills required to succeed.

Addressing this, a session on ‘Introduction to Poker and Game theory Learning’ was conducted by Luther and Patni from Adda52 and Poker Sports League. Aditya Agarwal, PokerStars Team Pro, touched upon the important subject of mental fitness which is a pre-requisite for the Game of Poker. Further there was a session on Bankroll Management which was handled by Madhav Gupta of Baadshah Gaming where tips and techniques were shared on the importance of being funded and avoiding lean spells while playing Poker. Sudhir Kamath from 9Stacks highlighted the relevance of physical fitness in poker. Overall, the Pro Series also lived up to its expectation of focusing the educational and experiential aspects of skill gaming, facilitating a practical session for the audience at the event.
