A Class Apart – Kolkata’s Park Street Privilege Club

Kolkata’s Park Street Privilege Club is setting the bar high when it comes to delivering a top notch ambience for an uber luxurious poker experience.

Park Street has for the longest time been one of those happening parts in the City of Joy and this latest luxury club has added a classy touch for gaming enthusiasts here. The Park Street Privilege Club (PPC) opened earlier a few months ago to cater to a members-only clientele and will offer a lot more facilities aside from gaming options for members.

The club occupies a space of more than 9,000 sq feet in the Park Center building and members can look forward to a range of exclusive services including gaming, karaoke, premium food and beverages and even a spa. “We are not a nightclub. Our concept was to come up with a place where our members can enjoy all days of the week. From the attire of the place to the staff, everything has an international touch. We are offering membership and targeting the 30-plus age group,” said Ankit Doogar and Sunny Karira, directors of Park Street Privilege Club. Both Doogar and Karira are known names on the Indian poker circuit. Let’s take a look at some of the facilities at the PPC:

  • Sports Lounge – Sports fans will really enjoy hanging out in this sports-themed area of the club which has a number of big screen TVs where you can catch all the action. Being sports enthusiasts themselves, the owners have showcased various memorabilia like autographed jerseys of Messi, Dhoni and even Mike Tyson. There’s also a pool table and chess board for those so inclined. You can also head to the 22 feet long bar to grab a drink which has been concocted by flair bartenders from Australia, UK and Italy.
  • Poker/Rummy room – Here patrons can catch their favourite game whenever they feel like it. Besides card games, this space can also turn into a karaoke room so those who love to croon can grab a mic and belt out their favourite songs. “We are aiming to do various activities on different days so there is always something to look forward to at PPC,” said Karira.

  • Library and Fine Wines – Those who wish to relax in other ways like reading a book or catching up on the day’s news can look forward to spending time in the luxurious PPC library which carries a range of books and even reference encyclopaedias. According to Doogar, this space is still being developed and more books will be added in the coming weeks and months. He added that this space will not be given out for private bookings maintaining the essence of this area as a chilled out space which people can come for some quiet relaxation. Adding to that is a collection of fi ne single malts and wines which will also available for patrons’ consumption.
  • Spa Therapy – With spa experts come in all the way from Turkey, let them soothe your aching muscles at the end of a tough work week. The spa offers a number of wellness treatments which you can use to pamper yourself into bliss.
  • Bites and cocktails – With world class bartenders manning the show, expect the unexpected when it comes to having a beverage at the PPC. Their Australian bartenders will be stirring and experimenting with a lot of whisky-and vodka-based drinks along with the regular standards. The menu here is exclusively vegetarian with nibbles like Cheese Chilli Toast, Chilli Baby Corn and a lot of soups, salad and sandwiches. With the recent rulings that allow Kolkata poker rooms to operate, it is expected that more poker clubs will emerge catering to different demographics across the City of Joy. The opening of a high-end club like the PPC may just be the start of a new trend in this part of the country.
