IPC Megastacks May 2022: Anant Purohit Selected as Gutshot Pro

Just a matter of 48 hours and the Indian poker fraternity is all set to welcome back another live series with open arms. Returning after a brief hiatus of over two years, following a global pandemic, the IPC Megastacks May 2022 series, a matter of prestige and pride for poker enthusiasts across the board, shall commence from May 17th till May 23rd at the Big Daddy Casino in Jhapa, Nepal.

This will also be the second time, an edition of the IPC is being held in foreign shores and besides major festivities, the event shall witness a huge celeb turnout, a pool party, live shows featuring music and entertainment, a chopper ride and more.

An engineer from Jaipur National University with an MBA degree from the prestigious IIM Ahmedabad, Rajasthan-based Anant Purohit began his poker stint by playing cash games before moving on to multi-table tournaments (MTT). He got acquainted with the game during his student days at IIM Ahmedabad around 2010-2011 but in 2014, was when he gradually sought interest in playing MTTs.

His accomplishments are plenty but one will definitely recall him for his IOPC Super Highroller finish where he shipped a whooping ₹29.13 Lakhs in July 2019. Despite live events taking a backseat following the outbreak of the COVID 19 virus and the action shifting online, Purohit ensured a steady bankroll with some notable standout performances. This includes an FT finish in the IOPC Main Event in January 2021, his third WPT title in the WPT India Super High Roller where he finished third for ₹12.98 Lakhs and The Summit, where his cumulative earnings stood at ₹16.36 lakhs.

Recently, at the just-concluded Deltin Poker Tournament in April 2022, the enterprising player clinched the 15 lac Freeroll Title, with over ₹3.30 lakhs in his kitty, having beaten over 81 entrants in the field, including the likes of Puneet Tandon and Rajsekhar Puttamsetty.
