The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Choctaw Main Event has finally concluded after crowning 21-year-old Harvey Castro as the ultimate champion. The young player walks home with the WSOPC Choctaw Main Event title, the championship ring, and $275,000.
Castro beat Chris Staats in the heads-up to claim the title. The 21-year-old won a couple of jams from Staats, which led to the latter being down to his last 4.1 Million. In the final hand, Castro shoved all-in once again, and this time Staats called with his remaining stack.
Staats showed 9 ♦ 8 ♦ , while Castro flipped J ❤ 5 ❤ . The board brought out K ♠ 2 ♦ 3 ❤ 7 ♠ Q ❤ , and Castro’s rail burst into a celebration. In the video shared by Poker.org, Castro is seen to be ecstatic as he hugs his rail and then turns to hug his opponent. He then dug his face into his palms in awe of the moment.

Castro surpassed a field of 1,026 entries at the Main Event to claim his first WSOP Circuit Ring. Staats finished runner-up at the Main Event for $174,980.
To claim a Main Event at the age of 21 is a huge achievement in itself, and it’s safe to say that Castro will make a name for himself in the poker scene for years to come. “I tried to manage expectations, I just tried to keep a calm, collected head throughout. I tried to take it one hand at a time,” the newly crowned champion said.
Castro shared that he started playing poker with his brother when he was just 18 years old. He said, “I just really developed a love for it, and I’ve been playing ever since. I’ve always loved tournaments, but I play a lot of cash.”
Poker isn’t the only sport that Castro enjoys. He is currently also a collegiate athlete who plays soccer. “I’m from Flower Mound (Texas), and I wanted to stay in the area, and SMU was the soccer school in the area,” he told Poker.org.
