2021 WSOP: Luther-Patni Progress To Day 2 Of Tag Team With The Fourth Highest Stack

The Indian contingent has been doing fairly well at the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP). At the ongoing Event #59: $1,000 Tag Team, our very own Nikita Luther and Kunal Patni have successfully progressed to Day 2 of the event. The event witnessed 641 teams on Day 1 and only 140 teams advanced to Day 2.

The Luther-Patni pair enjoyed a good run on Day 1 of the event. They held the chip lead for a good amount of time before Haven Werner – Thomas Taylor eventually took the chip lead and the Indian team was second on the chart. The pros will advance to Day 2 with the fourth-highest chip stack of 195,000 chips.

The Tag Team event has always been a special one for the Indian contingent. Aditya Sushant won India’s first WSOP gold bracelet in the year 2017 at this event. The following year, Nikita Luther won the second WSOP bracelet for India at the Tag Team event.

Luther is an established name in the Indian poker circuit. She is a Spartan Poker pro, who has cemented her position in the industry by becoming India’s only female poker player to have won the coveted WSOP gold bracelet. On the other hand, Patni, is also a well-known name in Indian poker, with several notable titles to his credit apart from being Adda52’s Game Ambassador. It would be interesting to see if the confident Luther-Patni pair nail a WSOP bracelet for India.

Other Indian pros who are making headlines at 2021 WSOP are Abhinav Iyer, Abhishek Goindi, Dhaval Mudgal, Kunal Patni among others. Poker pro and coach Abhishek Goindi has made it to Day 3 of Event #55: COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold’em from a pool of 9,399 entries.

Former WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer cashed $41,481 by finishing 12th at Event #56: $10,000 6-Handed NLHE Championship. Iyer, who won the first solo bracelet for India, held the chip lead on Day 1 of the event but bowed out on the 12th spot after a spectacular show.
