Xbox’s Sarah Bond Refuses To Comment On Nintendo Switch Welcoming Game Pass

An interview with Kotaku published in November 2020 with the Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer claimed that bringing more Xbox games to Switch does not feel sustainable unless the brand could bring the full Xbox ecosystem onto the platform.

Spencer claimed that he had an excellent relationship with Nintendo and also mentioned regular conversations with Nintendo CEO, Shuntaro Furukawa and Dough Bowser, Nintendo America President. As per news reports, when Axios Gaming quizzed Sarah Bond, Vice President of Creator Experiences at Xbox, she refused to make any revelations about Game Pass making its way onto Switch. According to media reports, Bond said, “I cannot comment about any specifics around that relationship as it is also related to Game Pass.”

With E3 2021 in the pipeline, Microsoft hosted a private briefing for media outlets and analysts this week. The brand emphasized on its strategy of bringing Xbox to as many devices as possible. The firm also confirmed that it plans to bring Xbox cloud gaming to televisions that have internet connections. This was done to build a streaming device specifically for Microsoft and to bring cloud gaming to any television or monitor without a console.

Xbox’s experiences and platforms head, Liz Hamren said, “Cloud is the key to our hardware and Game Pass roadmaps, but no one should think that we are slowing down on our core console engineering. We are accelerating it. We are already working on getting new hardware, some of which may not come to light for a few more years too. But even as we are striving to build a future, we are highly focused on building the Xbox experience to more and more devices today so we could reach many players,” added Hamren.

Hamren further mentioned that Microsoft is actively exploring ways to introduce a new Xbox Game Pass subscription plan in order to reach out to a wider audience.
