Xbox Celebrates Pride Month With Thematic Merchandise & Gaming Features


Microsoft’s Xbox is celebrating the pride month with a host of free games, colourful gaming equipment, new gaming features, merchandise and more. The company shared a blog describing everything the company has planned as part of the celebration.

Microsoft has launched limited-edition t-shirts, bags and more created in collaboration with LGBTQIA+ communities. The Xbox gear shop has introduced this Pride merchandise for Xbox, Halo and more. 

The company has also designed special Pride 2021 Xbox Wireless Controller with LGBTQIA+ community. The controller features the flags of various LGBTQIA+ communities in an interlaced pattern, making the controller look colourful and vibrant. The reverse side of the console has the words ‘Show your pride on every side,’ inscribed in white with grey borders.

The award-winning narrative adventure, ‘Tell Me Why’ from DontNod Entertainment and published by Xbox, will be available on Xbox consoles for the entire month of June. The adventure game will be available to all users free on the platforms. Additionally, the famous simulation racing game Forza will have the 2021 Forza Rainbow livery design on the 2017 Ford Focus RS model.The car will be available for free to all players in Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7.

Players can also customize their profiles with Xbox’s customized content to celebrate the pride month. In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, players will get access to the ‘unity ‘nameplate. And the company has launched special themes and gamerpics, which can be used to customize the player profiles.

The company will also be hosting a series of events to celebrate pride month. Xbox will be inviting content creators and streamers from the community as well as game developers who represent LGBTQIA+ community on their Twitch channel. The company will also host a Xbox Podcast which will discuss the safety for LGBTQIA+ players.

Microsoft will also make donations worth $1,50,000 to LGBTQIA and other non-profit organizations working for the community. Additionally players can also make donations through Xbox. These players will receive special rewards from Xbox. 

“Gaming is a big part of the lives of many LGBTQIA+ players and it’s important that we celebrate everyone who plays. At Xbox, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all members of LGBTQIA+ communities to experience the joy of gaming and we are championing content that represents all of today’s players. Team Xbox proudly supports LGBTQIA+ players during the Pride month and beyond. To honor Pride, we are focusing on intersectionality and lifting up LGBTQIA+ voices across gaming,” the company said in the blog post.
