Wynn Resorts has something more to plan now as it becomes the first entity to be granted a commercial gaming licence for the UAE region. Wynn is already building the Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, valued at around $4 Billion. The resort will be the first integrated gaming resort in the Middle East and North Africa region and is scheduled to throw open its doors to the public in early 2027.

The project covers almost 62 hectares and reaches almost the Arabian Gulf. Wynn Resorts, Marjan, and RAK Hospitality Holding collaborate on the current project. This is the latest development in a string of events that have been going on for a while. Last year, the UAE set up a federal entity that would regulate gaming in the Emirates, which increased chatter about whether the Emirates would allow gambling. At that time, there was no specific mention of casinos or gambling.
UAE follows Sharia Law, under which gambling is disallowed, so this is one of the most interesting decisions that the Emirates has taken. Industry insiders have maintained that the Emirates and other Middle Eastern areas could be the next big places for the expansion of the gambling industry.
For a few years, the UAE has been looking to increase its tourism factor. A gaming licence will allow the country to have a more vibrant nightlife and lifestyle, driving its GDP growth. Earlier, Morgan Stanley had predicted that the UAE would be the next big destination for gaming leaders. Experts have already weighed in on the possibility of casinos opening in Dubai.

With this development, the possibility of readers viewing an article that lists the top 10 casinos in Dubai has finally become a reality. The UAE is a logical host for some of the biggest poker series, given that the Emirates is popular for its opulent and cash-rich lifestyle. While the UAE has granted a gaming licence, neighbouring Saudi Arabia still has absolutely strict laws that ban gambling of all types. So, there are no live casinos or poker rooms. Whether that changes remains to be seen. There is a very good chance that other regions in the Middle East will open up to gaming and casinos now that the UAE has.
Several poker series are already held in Southeast Asia, in various areas, such as Taiwan, Vietnam, etc. These poker series are instrumental for the tourism industry of particular countries, with some of the biggest names in the poker industry flocking to them whenever a tournament is announced.
