WSOP Top 10 Finishes: Who Are These Poker Players?


The 54th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is upon us as players begin to prepare for the biggest poker show on the planet. This marquee event is back in Sin City as we get closer to it with each passing day! A lot of players earn stardom or legendary status, citing their performances in this tournament. Given the importance of the live tournament series, let’s have a look at all the poker stars that have registered the top 10 finishes in WSOP history.

Phil Hellmuth

The 58-year-old needs no introduction! Phil Hellmuth holds the record for most top 10 finishes in WSOP, with the American pro managing to make it to the top 10 an overwhelming 76 times. This Palo Alto-based poker pro also finds himself ranked 22nd on the All Time Money List and 15th in the USA All Time Money List. 

He is by far a big margin ahead of second-ranked Daniel Negreanu. As of May 2023, ‘The Poker Brat’ has won over $28,766,645 in live tournament winnings. This poker legend has earned notoriety for his trash talk on the poker tables and it remains interesting to see if he can replicate his success at WSOP 2023 and add to his bracelet tally.

Daniel Negreanu 

One of the most notable names in the global poker industry, Daniel Negreanu is second on the list. DNegs has won six WSOP bracelets to his name while also winning two World Poker Tour (WPT) championship titles. The Canadian pro has 58 top 10 finishes in WSOP. He sits at the number three slot in the All Time Money List while claiming the top spot for All Time Money List in Canada.

Currently residing in Las Vegas, Negreanu has pocketed over $50,728,306 in live tournament earnings. Set to enter WSOP 2023 after having a successful outing at the PokerGo Tour and US Poker Open, all the eyes will be on Negreanu to win at WSOP once again! Can he win his seventh WSOP bracelet in 2023? Only time will tell!

Erik Seidel

A well-known veteran of the game, Erik Seidel is probably one of the most decorated players in the poker universe. Having started his poker journey back in 1988, the New York-born poker player sits third on the list, having 48 top 10 finishes in WSOP history.

Currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada, Seidel has nine WSOP bracelets to his credit, alongside a WPT title. He was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2010, with his total live earnings sitting around $42,939,400.

Men Nguyen 

Also known as ‘The Master’, Men Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American professional poker pro who kickstarted his poker career in the late 1980s. Earlier nicknamed ‘Money Machine’, Nguyen continued to play poker every weekend and lose hundreds of dollars while playing on a junket to Las Vegas in 1984. 

However, he quickly mastered the game and was later seen tutoring players, many of whom have been quite successful. He has 44 top 10 finishes in the WSOP, which sees him being ranked 51st in the USA’s All Time Money List and 105th in the All Time Money List. With total live earnings sitting around $11,133,892, Nguyen is not a player to be forgotten so easily.

Chris Ferguson 

The 60-year-old poker veteran has won six WSOP bracelets, which includes the 2000 WSOP Main Event. Ferguson, who has a doctorate in computer science, was nicknamed ‘Jesus’ because of his trademark long brown hair and beard. He made his first WSOP appearance in 1995 and won his first WSOP bracelet in 2000. 

With 43 top 10 WSOP finishes, Ferguson finds himself slotted fifth on the list. He has earned over $9,584,000 in total live earnings. Chris Ferguson remains to be one of the most famous poker players in the world!
