The excitement levels were at all-time high back home for those following Kartik Ved’s progress in Event #16 at the World Series of Poker 2024 at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The poker pro was marching ahead steadily in this $5,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament. Ved made the final table to eventually finish in the fourth spot for a payday of $220,373.
At Level 33, blinds 200,000/400,000, big blind ante 400,000, Eddie Ochana opened the action from the cutoff position with 800,000. Now the ball was in Kartik Ved’s court in the big blind with A9o. The Indian pro jammed with 2,425,000 and his rival made the call showing K5o. With 7♦ 5♣ 4♥ Q♠ J♥ on the board, Ved was eliminated in the fourth position.

This was eventually shipped by Brent Hart for a sum of $660,284. The runner-up was Eddie Ochana who added $440,202. This No-Limit Hold’em tourney had 660 entries in total while the final prize pool stood at $3,036,000. The final table of this event began with the runner-up holding the chip lead 71 big blinds while Indian pro held 13 big blinds to take a shot at the top spot.
While being the second lowest stack on the final table, Kartik Ved was able to battle it out before bowing out at the fourth spot. When it comes to the winner’s reaction on his maiden WSOP bracelet Hart said, “It’s truly surreal. I’m floating right now.”
While commenting on the field and playing the tournament, Hart revealed, “Sick field. Every table, I was like, wait a minute. And it was great because I was able to learn something every day. I was able to sit with seasoned players and pick up small nuances here and there, so it was a win-win.”

“I was playing with house money because at the bare minimum, I was going to get some game from these seasoned vets, these multi-bracelet winners, and it just worked out. Today was my time. Man, it’s been a long time coming.”
