Anirban Das has made history by taking the 16th place at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2023 Main Event. With this, Das has created history by recording the best cash by any Indian at the WSOP Main Event. He pocketed his career-best cash of $430,200 for his deep and significant run.
After busting out at the 16th place, the last Indian standing also bubbled Day 8 of the event. The remaining 15 players will now proceed to Day 8 of the prestigious event, which has a lucrative $12,100,000 up top.

Adam Walton, from under the gun, raised to 1,200,000 preflop. He found three callers in Anirban Das, Jack O’Neill, and Dean Hutchison. The flop fanned out to 4 ♦ 9 ❤ 9 ♦ . Walton again made a bet of the same amount as his preflop raise. The Indian pro called from the early position, while O’Neill called from the button. Hutchison decided to make a fold.
The turn brought a 3 ♦ and the table checked to O’Neill, who bet 2,700,000. This was faced by a 6,500,000 raise and a call from Das. Here O’Neill decided to make the fold. The river brought a J ♣.
Walton did not hesitate to shove his stack in, and neither did Das, who immediately pushed his remaining 17,800,000 in the middle. Walton had sailed with his full boat holding 4 ❤ 4 ♣, while Das’ flush and tournament life was drowned with Q ♦ T ♦ .
We got in touch with Das to understand his view about the 16th-place finish and his final hand, to which he said, “Thanks so much, everyone, for the support. Definitely celebrating once back. I’m also sorry for letting everyone and myself down. I am good enough to find the fold on the river in the last hand and probably even the turn. It’s an expensive and valuable lesson I guess.”
