WSOP 2022: Fabian Brandes Wins Event #39; Anik Ajmera Finishes 25th

After nine hours of intense gameplay, Event #39: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Handed Championship at the ongoing World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2022 has finally come to an end. Fabian Brandes, has once again proved that he is a Pot-Limit Omaha crusher this edition after shipping this event for the brand new WSOP gold bracelet and a handsome $371,358 in prize money.

The German player had previously finished runner-up to Tong Li in Event #19: $25,000 PLO High Roller and cashed $907,132. Brandes told PokerNews “It was a rollercoaster of a day! It is unreal to have the bracelet in my hand.” Brandes has a little Super Mario figure guarding his stack as he also sported a Mario cap. Talking about his Mario-obsession, he said, “I pretended to be superstitious and this year I chose Mario, and so far he is doing a good job.” 

The event had 719 entries, of which the top 108 players finished in the money. The $3,000 buy-in event had a prize pool of $1,919,730 on offer as a min-cash of $4,834 was given away. Among the players who cashed was Indian player Anik Ajmera, who finished at the 25th spot for $12,143.

The final table had six players including Grzegorz Derkowski (6th, $55,501), Ferenc Deak (5th, $76,880), Thomas Morrison (4th, $108,604), and Sean Winter (3rd, $156,401), who busted at the respective spots. 

Finally, Brandes beat Day 3 chip leader Israel’s Leonid Yanovski in the heads-up, as Yanovski finished second for $229,529.
