WSOP 2020: Scott Hempel Wins Event #18 for $181K!


Undoubtedly, players in the US states of Nevada and New Jersey are highly excited for the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online events but the action will soon shift to GGPoker. Yet another day that crowned a champion in Scott ‘BudLightLime’ Hempel capturing his first ever bracelet and winning the top prize of $181,060!

The WSOP Online Event #18: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed Turbo DeepStack accumulated a prize of $937,650 at the back of 987 entries. The top 143 players received a paycheck after ‘twheeler68’ bubbled the tournament in 144th place. Among those to cash were Event #1 champ Jonathan ‘art.vandelay’ Dokler (107th – $1,687), Phil ‘Lumestackin’ Hellmuth (97th – $1,781), Ryan ‘joeyisamush’ Depaulo (84th – $1,969), Max ‘MaxSparrow’ Pescatori (52nd – $3,094) and so on.

The final table chip leader was Barry ‘puigmyfriend’ Hutter. And the first casualty was Matthew ‘EarvinMagic’ Parry followed by Harrison ‘harrisond33’ Dobin and Landon ‘ActionDealer’ Tice. The chip leader then went out in the 5th place and with the dismissal of ‘GoatMaster’, heads-up got underway.

The final two players on the table were  Myles ‘Shipthemoney’ Kotler and Scott ‘BudLightLime’ Hempel. The latter began heads-up with 24 million to 15 million of Kotler’s. Hempel moved all in while Kotler called.

The board opened Js 8h 6s Js Ac and that’s how easily Hempel grabbed his first ever WSOP title along with the cash prize of $181,060! The champ has over $216K in live winnings and it was only in February 2020 that he finished 6th for $185,330 in WPT L.A. Poker Classic Main Event. Scott also ended up 7th in Event #17: $777 No-Limit Hold’em for $22,250.
