WSOP 2020: Romaine, Gottlieb Win Gold Bracelets!


On the heels of power-packed Sunday, Mondays on WSOP.com as well as GGPoker and Natural8 saw a surge of players hunting to take home the most prestigious poker bracelet. The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Series crowned champion in two other players today – WSOP Event #13: $1,500 High Roller Freezeout runner-up William ‘SlaweelRyam’ Romaine and Lev ‘LevMeAlone’ Gottlieb. 2020 WSOP Event #28: $1,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 6-Max

Creating $498,750 in prize pool, the 28th bracelet event on WSOP.com saw 525 entries. It took 12 hours or so for the ultimate champion Connecticut’s William ‘SlaweelRyam’ Romaine to power through the strong field and take down the title, adding the first bracelet to his poker cabinet. Money reached the top 80 places after two-time bracelet winner Anthony ‘heheh’ Zinno bubbled the tourney.

Heads-up began between Romaine and Mark ‘victb’ Loli and it all came to end when the latter raised the button and Romaine called to see the  {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts} flop. Romaine ({a-Spades}{2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}) was ahead with pair of Aces and Loli ({5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}) held 5-5. But  {10-Clubs} and {10-Diamonds}  on turn and river gave Romaine two pairs who outlasted his opponent to collect $110,673 in top prize! The winner has over $234K in lifetime earnings including at least 9 WSOP cashes. His lone gold ring came in March 2019 when he won the WSOP Circuit WSOP.com $525 Main Event for $92,400.

2020 WSOP Event #43: $10,000 Short Deck No Limit Hold’em Championship

The first championship event in the 2020 WSOP Series on GGpoker has concluded with Lev ‘LevMeAlone’ Gottlieb winning the Event #43 Short Deck No Limit Hold’em. The event brought in 130 entries collecting $1,261,000 in the prize pool, defeating short deck crusher Mikita Badziakouski in heads-up, Gottlieb grabbed his first bracelet for $276,393 in first prize!

Other notables to cash include Jason Koon (15th, $23,915), India’s Moeee (13th, $27,222), Danny Tang (12th, $27,222), Bjorn Li (7th, $53,550), Sergi Reixach (3rd, $159,933) and so on.

The tourney came to an end after the elimination of Reixach in the third place after which heads-up got underway. Gottlieb shoved preflop, and Badziakouski called. The board ran  {7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

  • Mikita Badziakouski: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
  • Lev ‘LevMeAlone’ Gottlieb: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Gottlieb turned the straight eliminating Badziakouski in the runner-up position.
