WSOP 2020: Dunst, Helppi Grab Second Gold Bracelets!

The entire poker world is blessed with the power-packed action on WSOP.com as well as GG Network hosting the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online Bracelet Events. And today crowned champions in Event #21 and Event #35 what turned out to be second gold bracelet win for each!

Event #21: $777 No-Limit Hold’em 6-Handed (WSOP.com)

Action continued on WSOP.com and the 21st bracelet event garnered a field of 1,361 entries, generating $952,700 prize pool. Mark ‘bansman’ Bansemer bubbled the tournament in 207th place with the remaining players finishing in the money. Nearly 11 hours later, it was World Poker Tour (WPT) commentator Tony Dunst emerging victorious to capture a $168,342 first-place prize and his second career bracelet.

In 2016, Dunst took down WSOP Event #63: $1,000 NLH for $339,254. In 2019, he came real close to his second bracelet but lost to Carl Shaw in WSOP Event #89: $5,000 NLH for $374,886. The champion’s lifetime earnings exceed $3 million with his career-best 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event where he finished 2nd for $700,069.

Dunst began the final table with a big chip lead and by the time four players remained, he sat with more than 13 million. With the dismissal of Alec ‘Tango_Bravo’ Parslow in third place for $72K, heads-up play began between ‘paymycollege’ and Tony ‘Panoramic’ Dunst.

The board ran 5s 7s 4d 3s Qh and Dunst fired out 3 million while his opponent raised all in for 8 million and Dunst called. And that’s how Dunst completed a flush. ‘paymycollege’ was left with less with 116k and then went out after running six-three into aces. Thus, Dunst took home the top prize and the gold hardware for claiming the day!

Event #35 $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha Championship (GGPoker)

Capturing his second gold bracelet was poker legend Juha Helppi who took down the 35th event on GGPoker for $290,286 in first prize. The tourney drew 328 entries accumulating a bigger prize pool of $1.55 million and a slice of which was taken away by the top 47 players which included India’s ‘pokermafiaa’ (26th) after the Brian Green became the bubble boy of the tournament.

The first casualty from the final table was Alex ‘rubbherducky’ Difelice followed by Serbia’s Marija ‘Maj Chenzie’ Andrijasevic. In the 7th place, Sergi Reixach bowed out and Yuri Dzivielevski followed him. With the elimination of Belarmino ‘Iseey0urcard’ De Souza in the third place, heads-up got underway between Jesus Cortes (1 million) and Juha Helppi (6 million chips). The final hand saw Helppi moving all-in on the flop 10h 9s 5d and Cortes made the call.

The turn Kd saw Spaniard drawing dead and with Kc on the river the tournament ended with Helppi claiming his second bracelet along with the first prize! The champion’s first bracelet came in the 2019 WSOP Event #72 $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship for $306,622 after beating 118 entries. And right now, the winner has more than $7 million in lifetime earnings, sitting 2nd in Finland’s all-time money list.
