Women Poker Players Taking The Industry By Storm

The world of the 21st century belongs to women. From corporate ladders to global governance to interplanetary sciences, we women have shown our grit and determination to break societal norms and stigmas. One more landscape that is being redefined by today’s women is Sports, especially in India.

The Indian women are chasing their dreams with remarkable dedication, climbing atop the world of physical as well as mental sports. Just as Mary Kom and Nikhat Zareen, who are proving their prowess at boxing rings, my fellow players like Nikita Luther and Kanchan Sharma are excelling in the mind sport, i.e, poker.

Breaking Social Vices on the Felt

Lately, our participation across poker events has tremendously grown. We are not only giving players of all skill and experience levels a stiff battle, but also breaking all kinds of stereotypes, especially the one of poker being a male-exclusive game. I believe one of the major reasons for that is that we women are more intuitive and better at handling money, which is helpful in bankroll management.

Recently, Nikita Luther finished in the second position at ‘Colossus’ – one of the biggest live poker tournaments under Adda52.com’s umbrella – for ₹21,00,000. In 2018, during her stint as an Adda52 Pro, she shipped India’s 2nd WSOP gold bracelet along with the prize of $175,805 by winning $1000 Tag Team NLHE. Agra-based Kanchan Sharma is a professional poker player who regularly participates in online poker tournaments at Adda52.com like Godfather, Adda52 Millions, Mega Suits, etc and has won a few of them.

The popularity of the game among the aspiring female players like us can also be attributed to the foundation these players have created by actively participating and stealing the show at national and international poker events. The success of these players has motivated the fandom to break the existing norms and demonstrate their talent to achieve high.

Technology is bringing Poker to women

Thanks to technology, poker is no longer restricted to the live gaming rooms, and is now accessible to everyone. And, mobile gaming technology is considered one of the biggest industry drivers in the current scenario.

These days, online poker sites like Adda52.com allow us to access the game no matter where we are or at what time of the day. They even offer increased personalization, bonuses, comfort, more poker game variants like Texas Hold’em, Omaha, and Crazy Pineapple, & step-by-step tutorials to help the new women players learn the ins and outs of the game.

With the rising awareness of poker as a skill-based game, female players from all over the country are exhibiting interest in hitting the felts. With poker being regarded as a ‘mind sport’, the industry landscape has changed dramatically. Women are now trying their hands at poker professionally and are being celebrated for their wit and expertise across the globe.

In my opinion, it is quite evident that the sports and gaming industry is ushering in a new era. With the growing female participation in the game of cards, the industry is surely in for a positive growth trajectory. The change is coming and it’s just a matter of time that we see women dominating the feels everywhere!
