Whopping $100mn GTD in WPT World Online Championships!

Its going bigger and grander! The upcoming month plans on making you richer, heightening your energy and thickening your bankroll. Two of the world’s most prestigious and oldest live poker tours are about to kick off. The return of WSOP flashed in the news giving away 85 coveted bracelets online. Now, the World Poker Tour (WPT) announced the first-ever WPT World Online Championships guaranteeing a whopping $100 million in total prize money!

The two premier names in the game one being partypoker, declared the WPT Main Tour event and this time the buy-in is higher and the prizes are bigger. If you look back, partypoker hosted the successful WPT Online Series from 10 – 26 May with an overall guarantee of $30 million. On the wheels of its previous series, the WPT World Online Championships will feature 12 Championship Events taking place from 17 July – 8 September. The official WPT website states, “This will be the biggest online series ever run by partypoker.”

The two highlight events will be Event #10: $25,500 WPT World Championship High Roller and Event #7: $10,300 WPT World Championship Main Event, each assuring a hefty $10 million in prize money. Another one sporting $5 million GTD is $102K WPT World Championship Super High Roller will surely turn heads. Other four WPT Champions Club tournaments each have a $3,200 buy-in and a $3 million guarantee over a variety of NLHE formats.

In a press release Adam Pliska, CEO of the WPT said, “The WPT World Online Championships brings together the World Poker Tour and partypoker together once more for what will be the largest series in both of our histories. The spectacle on display during the WPT Online Series will be heightened once more come July with another major milestone for the World Poker Tour. Five WPT Champions crowned in a single series is a first for the WPT in 18 seasons and we look forward to welcoming them all into the WPT Champions Club.”

For each of the Main Events, there is a Mini and a Micro version of the events. The entire schedule is packed with NLH, Knockout events, PLO, PLO Hi-Lo as well as heads-up tournament. Managing Director of partypoker, Tom Waters said, “I’m delighted that we have been able to partner with the WPT to revive the WPT World Championships and bring the series online for the first time. We want to give the festival more of a live event feel, so the tournaments will be structured as such, including single re-entry for all No Limit Hold’em event, freezeouts, limited late registration, and limited Day 1’s. Due to popular demand, players will be able to see each other’s real names at the tables.”
