#FlasbackFriday: When Doug Polk-Matt Berkey Drama Got Really Intense!

Doug Polk again made headlines and was once again being trolled. This time around, by poker pro and streamer Matt Berkey. The two got into a Twitter war and Twitteratti had a blast.

It all started when Polk claimed that Nick Airball reached out to him and said he wanted to play Berkey. Accordingly, Polk asked Berkey to join him for a stream, and the latter said he was busy. Polk says that someone like Airball inviting Berkey was a big thing and Berkey denying it, saying he was busy, was a “B**** move!”

Later Berkey shared screenshots of his chat with Polk during a podcast. In the podcast, Berkey shares that Polk reached out to him when he was in the Bahamas in January this year, saying that he wanted to play heads-up with Nick Airball. To this, Berkey says he told Upswing Poker found that he was busy since he runs a company and he had another endeavour that he was working on. Berkey then shares that Polk texted him weeks later and completely changed the narrative on texts, claiming that Polk asked him to play a cash game on his personal stream called ‘DougPolkVid’ with Airball. 

Berkey further says that the stream was basically meant for Airball to cloud chase and for Polk to promote his streams. The Why Poker Training Academy founder says he didn’t like either Polk or Airball and wouldn’t want to spend eight hours playing a 200/400 cash game. He further says he doesn’t understand why Polk is lying. Berkey also shared the screenshots on his Twitter handle.

In the podcast, Berkey also shared that if Airball wanted to play with him, they could set a time and meet every day at Bellagio or Aria or any place that was convenient to Berkey’s schedule. 

Polk then reacted to the screenshots by posting a tweet that read, “I’ve seen a lot of pathetic stuff in poker over the years, but @berkey11 posting screenshots of our text messages in order to show him backing out of a HU match is an all timer. The reason @nikairball wants to play is to beat you on stream not to play at the Bellagio you nitwit.” (sic)

Also fwiw if the 200/400 at the Bellagio offer is open to me as well I will flyover there and personally end you.

Berkey replied to the tweet, saying, “We’ll roll the red carpet out for you to come to play full ring you washed up geezer. No one ever has, nor ever will duck you in ring games. Stay in your lane.”(sic) To which Polk replied, “Me and my friends will totally beat you up” (sic), subtly taking a dig at Berkey’s ‘Only Friends Podcast.’
