WATCH: Diego Gonzalez’ Luxury Yacht Catches Fire In The Mediterranean

According to various reports, an 88-foot luxury yacht owned by Diego Gonzalez, a Spanish poker pro, was seen burning in a horrifying fire on Saturday. While it’s unclear if Gonzalez was onboard, earlier reports indicate that the boat consisted of 17 individuals — five crew members and 12 passengers at the time of the incident.

Initial reports also state that everyone who was on the boat survived, with only one crew member needing some medical attention for some minor burns. Diego Gonzalez, who has nearly $500,000 in live tournament cashes as per the Hendon Mob, is yet to comment on the incident.

Various news publications posted videos of the 88-foot luxury yacht on fire. The footage sees the yacht being engulfed in a massive fire, with the main cause of the fire yet to be either discovered and made public. It is worth noting that this incident took place at around 6 PM off the island of Formentera in the Mediterranean sea.

Quite a few boaters rushed to aid the passengers on board. The incident also saw a lot of people who were seated inside a seaside restaurant take photos of the boat fire, as it took place very close to the coast.

Gonzalez’ yacht is said to be built in 1995, with the vessel capable of accommodating 20 people comfortably while boasting features like a luxury cabin, a deck jacuzzi as well as access to multiple water sports.

Madrid-based Diego Gonzalez is a long-time poker pro boasting a top live score of $256,000, which he earned for a fifth-place finish at the 2012 European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague Main Event. It also saw him get the nickname ‘The Lion’ for dressing up in a costume of a lion during the EPT Main Event. He has also pocketed five World Series of Poker (WSOP) online cashes over the years.
