Venetian Poker Room Makes a Smashing Return With New Location

One of the top poker rooms in Las Vegas, the Venetian Poker Room, has relocated to a more convenient spot within the Venetian. The grand opening on Thursday afternoon drew poker pros, recreational players, casino executives, and even rapper Nelly. Notable attendees included Matt Berkey, Jamie Kerstetter, Maria Konnikova, and 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion Scott Blumstein.

All About Venetian Poker Room Re-Opening

A Grand Opening Celebration

The festivities kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a speech from Venetian’s poker room boss, Tommy LaRosa, who emphasized the convenience and enhanced gaming experience of the new location. Previously situated near the Venetian sportsbook and Las Vegas Boulevard exit, the poker room is now located between the Venetian and Palazzo casino floors in the Grand Canal Shoppes on the second level.

First Hand Dealt

At 4:30 p.m. local time, the ceremonial firsthand was dealt with. Several casino executives joined Nelly, Kerstetter, Berkey, Farah Galfond, Blumstein, and Joey Ingram. The hand turned into an eight-way all-in preflop, with only Kerstetter folding.

Following the first hand, hundreds of players filled the room to take part in the cash games. Berkey, Galfond, Kerstetter, and Jeremy Ausmus hosted a meet-up, joined by poker pros like vlogger Jaman Burton and Landon Tice. Guests enjoyed free hors d’oeuvres throughout the event.

New Features and Familiar Favorites

The revamped Venetian poker room resembles the nearby Wynn poker room, with blue felt and white rail poker tables. However, it boasts unique features like new carpeting, a self-serve soda machine, and a coffee station.

Announced in February, the new poker room is now the largest in Las Vegas. On its first day, the 49-table room offered low and mid-stakes no-limit hold ’em games, mixed games, and pot-limit Omaha.

Upcoming Tournaments

Venetian remains a premier tournament destination, hosting events like the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) and the DeepStack Series. The DeepStack Showdown Poker Series begins Friday and runs until Sept. 15. It features $2.4 million in guaranteed prize money, including a $500,000 guaranteed MSPT event from Sept. 5-8.

Amenities and Livestreaming

The 24/7 poker room offers free drinks to all guests and $3 per hour in comps for cash game players. A new addition is the live streaming room, which is expected to be operational by year-end.

Positive Impressions

Players expressed positive first impressions. Maria Konnikova praised the room’s beauty and the convenience of the restroom, noting her sensitivity to smoke. Joey Ingram highlighted the excitement and energy among players, believing the new room would appeal to many. Jon Friedberg, CEO of PokerAtlas, commended the room’s amenities and design, while Scott Blumstein declared, “It’s hard to argue that it gets any better than this.”

The enthusiastic feedback from these poker pros confirms the success of the new Venetian poker room.
