Fast-growing live poker brand in the Asian continent—U Series Of Poker (USOP) announced the cancellation of USOP Hanoi May 2024 event. This series was set to take place from 29th May to 10th June 2024, and its cancellation marks the fourth major poker series to be called off in Vietnam. This decision, made by the USOP in consultation with Crown Poker Club, was reportedly influenced by unexpected regulatory changes, emphasising on the importance of player safety. USOP shared the below post on its official Facebook account.
“Important Update for USOP Hanoi!
To our dear participants,
Due to sudden unforeseen regulatory changes, and because protecting players’ safety has always been our top priority, we deeply regret to inform you that the USOP Hanoi series has been cancelled as advised by our partner, Crown Poker Club.
We made our very best efforts to push the series through. We deeply regret the unfortunate circumstances that led to this decision, and we understand the disappointment this brings to everyone. We will work closely with Crown Poker Club to help address the concerns of affected players.
More details will be shared soon, so stay tuned to our official channels for the latest updates and information. Thank you for your support and understanding. We sincerely look forward to serving you better in the near future.

As per news reports, despite earnest efforts to proceed with the USOP Hanoi 2024 event, the organisers expressed deep regret over the circumstances leading to its cancellation and pledged to collaborate closely with Crown Poker Club to address players’ concerns.
This development follows the abrupt cancellation of the World Poker Tour’s WPT Hanoi series, which faced similar challenges regarding government approvals. With a total of four poker series cancelled in Vietnam within the last six months, speculations arise about a potential regulatory crackdown or intensified competition among Hanoi’s poker establishments. Previous incidents, such as the Asian Poker Tour’s APT Hanoi Billions and the Asian Poker Festival at Royal Poker Club, have also faced cancellations amidst legal uncertainties.
Moreover, Crown Poker Club encountered controversy earlier this year due to a disputed 10% ‘tax’ on players’ winnings, which was later clarified as a fee to cover operational expenses. These developments underscore the evolving landscape of poker events in Vietnam and highlight the importance of regulatory compliance and transparent practices within the industry.
