Stoyan Madanzhiev wins WSOP 2020 Main Event for $3.9M

Stoyan Madanzhiev of Bulgaria was crowned champion by outlasting the field of the record setting 2020 World Series of Poker Online Main Event on GGPoker. The $5,000 buy in NLHE event created the largest prize pool in online poker history with $27,559,500 in prize money. Out of 5,802 entries, Mandanzhiev emerged victorious claiming the prestigious WSOP ME gold bracelet with a top prize of $3,904,686. This was by far the largest win in the Bulgarian’s poker career.

The poker pros largest recorded live cash previously was a 14th place finish in the 2019 Merit Poker Western Tournament $2,000 buy in event for $10,800. He celebrated the moment after winning the title on social media after he flopped a straight against pocket aces in heads up against Wenling Gao. It was by far the biggest win of his career, also becoming the first ever WSOP Online Main Event champion.

The final day of this event resumed with just 38 players remaining from the massive field of 5,802 entries. It came down to the last three players Madanzhiev, Gao and Tyler Rueger. Gao eliminated Rueger in third place and went heads up against the Bulgarian pro, roughly six million chips behind Madanzhiev. The Bulgarian pro won a few quick pots to pull out a 2-1 chip advantage.

Then, he picked up the dream 3-4-5 flop with 6-7 against Gao’s pocket aces on the final hand. Mandanzhiev’s 6-7 had flopped the nut straight and the eight on the turn, as he had her completely crushed. Once the final cards were dealt, Madanzhiev scooped all the chips and the championship of the 2020 online WSOP Main Event.
