2020 WSOP Online Main Event hits historic $27+ Million prize pool

With the shift of live poker to online, many individuals in the poker industry may have questioned the success of world’s greatest poker tournament. The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online kicked off in style, lining up 85 bracelet events on WSOP.com and GGPokerNatural8. And we are just a week away from witnessing another breathtaking moment that will go down the history books when the world champion will be crowned.

Past two weeks played out 23 starting flights of the $25 million GTD WSOP Main Event. The biggest event in the online poker history concluded Day 2, yesterday with 38 survivors progressing to the massive final day. While most of us doubted whether such an ambitious guarantee could pull off. Turns out, we were all wrong! Crushing the assured amount to creating a never-before-seen in the history of internet poker, a mouthwatering $27,559,500 prize pool.

The record shattering event pulled in a total of 5,802 entries out of which only 1,171 hopefuls could battle on Day 2. Each player was allowed a maximum of three bullets in this event. Aussie high roller Kahle Burns started the day as the chip leader. After the bubble burst, the top 728 players were assured a slice from the incredible prize pool.

It took 12 hours for field to whittle down to 38 remaining players who have at least $39,214 guaranteed as min-cash. Bryan Piccioli amassed the largest stack of 18.41 million and is now vying for the top prize. The winner of this event will receive $3,904,686, also one of the largest paydays in online poker history.

In 2018, partypoker’s MILLION Online event gathered 4,367 entries, resulting in a jaw-dropping prize pool of $21.83 million, crushing $20 million guarantee to become the largest prize pool event in the online poker history back then.

The remaining 38 will take a six-day hiatus to prepare themselves for the massive final day (6 September). So, keep an eye on GutshotMagazine.com for the Main Event winner.
