SSS Day 3: Sagar Harwani, Yash Jain, others win titles

If World Series of Poker (WSOP) is the biggest attraction in live poker at the moment, then Spartan Super Series (SSS) is one of the biggest attractions in online poker at the moment. Spartan Poker hosts this series every once in a way and yesterday was Day 3 of the series, with a total of 6 tournaments scheduled through the day.

Here’s a summary of what went down on SSS Day 3 on Spartan:

SSS Event #11 INR 40k GTD

Spartan usually begins the day with lower buy-in tournaments like this one which had an entry fee of INR 110. A new prize pool of INR 53,200 was created because of the healthy participation and the top 31 players were eventually paid, with the minimum cash prize being INR 468. After a few hours of grinding, the winner emerged in Sagar Harwani aka ‘DuckDuckGo’ who topped the field for the biggest prize of INR 11,252. In heads-up, he beat Neeraj Kumar Paswan aka ‘Luckyguy’ who had to settle for INR 7,576 for finishing second.

SSS Event #12 Kick-OFF INR 3 Lakh GTD

The second tournament of the day had a higher buy-in of INR 1,100 and there were some better-known players in the field. The guarantee was missed by a little bit and the top 27 players received a pay-check of a minimum of INR 3,000 each. Winning the tournament and a prestigious SSS title was ‘Yashi9696’ who grabbed INR 66,450 for this victory. In the final hand of the tournament, he hit a pair of Kings in a PFAI to beat ‘sasikiranx’, the latter winning INR 44,850 for finishing as runner-up.

SSS Event #13 INR 2.5 Lakh GTD

It has been a brilliant SSS series for ‘Ashter’ so far on Spartan Poker, bagging another title on SSS Day 3 and earning some vital points towards the leaderboard, where another INR 5 Lakh is kept aside in prizes. 31 players were paid a minimum of INR 2,200 and it was Ashter who managed the biggest prize of INR 52,875, beating ‘oil_trader’ in heads-up. The INR 770 buy-in tournament after a Full House beat 2 pairs in the final hand, with ‘oil_trader’ having to settle for 2nd place and a prize of INR 35,600.

SSS Event #14 Destiny INR 25 Lakh GTD

Destiny is one of Spartan’s most popular featured tournaments, played every Wednesday night at 7:30pm. Last night too, a very competitive field of 489 entries joined the contest, each paying INR 5,500 as the entry fee. Eventually, the top 40 were paid out a minimum of INR 15,000 each, which was nearly triple the original buy-in. Winning Destiny is never easy as all of the best pros from across the country are usually a part of proceedings here. ‘FreeFlow’ won the tournament and INR 6,62,500 in prize money, joining other winners in the Destiny 9.0 Finale SnG. In heads-up, he beat ‘KidPoker03’ who won INR 4,12,500 for finishing second.

SSS Event #15 Super High Roller INR 45 Lakh GTD

Not everyone can afford to pay INR 55,000 just to play in an online poker tournament, so you know how tough a field it would be when such highroller tournaments take place. Some even entered twice as 79 entries registered to the tournament on Spartan Poker, where only 9 were paid eventually, with the min-cash being a massive INR 1,35,000. ‘ReDut’ emerged victorious eventually, winning the gigantic top prize of INR 13,11,750 after beating ‘fake news’ in heads-up. The two players were all-in pre-flop with an Ace each, but the board fired blanks and ReDut won with a higher kicker, J, as fake news settled for the runner-up prize of INR 9,45,000.

SSS Event #16 Hi-Fi INR 4 Lakh GTD

This tournament is played daily on Spartan with a buy-in of INR 1,650 and yesterday, it attracted a healthy participation once again, taking the prize pool to INR 4.72 Lakh which was eventually shared by the top 27 players with a min-cash of INR 4,725. The winner turned out to be Yash Jain aka ‘YOSHER’, who won the top prize of INR 1,04,659. In the final hand, Jain and ‘SwedhaSingh’ were all-in pre-flop and the winner’s Queen hit two more queens on the board to complete Three of a Kind while the runner-up took away INR 70,639 for second place.
