Sony To Have Its Own Patented Esports Betting System

Sony Interactive Entertainment recently filed a patent for a platform to allow its users to guess the results of esports games. It will use video game technology and real-time betting technology simultaneously. 

The new patent by Sony aims at esports to be the main focus. Given today’s scenario where esports is the main focus for the virtual reality chairs as well, the patent focusing on esports seems to make perfect sense. 

The new patent document states that the system will allow users to bet in real money, cryptocurrency as well as digital items on first-person contests. 

As per the patent, the system would use the player as well as team history to ascertain the possibilities of results offered to the players during the game. The viewers can also decide and set their own odds instead of the odds set by the system. The system follows  the same pattern as traditional betting in sports betting and online casinos. The patent will allow users to watch the coverage of the events live, the events would include sports and martial arts events. The viewers can decide on the final outcome by watching the live coverage and make decisions based on the movements taking place in real-time during the coverage.
