Shah Rukh Khan and A23 Make a Surprising Split After 3 Years!

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest global brands, and signing him up as a brand ambassador would mean that some big bucks have been transacted. His responsible gaming ambassadorship with A23, the online rummy, fantasy and poker platform, caused quite a stir when it all happened back in 2022.

Now, three years later, the industry buzz is that King Khan of Bollywood and the gaming giant A23 have parted ways. The Indian gaming community has always been intrigued by the innovative print and digital campaigns that SRK participated in, but it seems there won’t be any more ads in which Khan promotes the online game. At the time of writing this article, it is unclear whether the contract expired or was actively cancelled.

A23 is owned and operated by Head Digital Works Private Limited. It is the first website to introduce classical Indian Rummy to the digital space. The app has more than 7 crore registered players and has been in the Indian real-money gaming industry for 16 years. 

Shah Rukh Khan’s addition as a brand ambassador for a major online poker and rummy platform was an excellent initiative for the nascent Indian gaming industry. He was one of the first celebrities to promote online gaming in India and feature in advertisements: even his recent movie, Pathaan (2023), had a poker connection.

While several actors and influencers have joined the online gaming brand ambassador bandwagon now, SRK’s ads will be remembered for their wit and Khan’s charm. His appearances in A23 Poker ads have also bolstered the mainstream acceptance of the skill game sport in India.

 

Indian online and real-money gaming companies have recently signed up several other Bollywood stars, including Shahid Kapoor, who promotes PokerBaazi and Anil Kapoor, who was signed by Junglee Poker. It remains to be seen whether Shah Rukh Khan will sign up with another online and real-money gaming brand in India and whether A23 will sign up with someone else as well.
