Sagar Raj Wins Second Championship at DPT Grand, Ships Grand Highroller Event

Sagar Raj has one of the greatest runs at DPT Grand 2024, at the Deltin Royale in Goa. The young poker player shipped the Grand High Roller event just days after taming the DPT Grand Rush and becoming the first player to win a DPT bracelet.  He now has two DPT bracelets to his name. The High Roller event saw 138 entries, and Sagar Raj took home ₹30,12,723. The runner-up was Shardul Parthasarathy, who took home ₹29,92,903.

Sagar had Qs and 2d during the final hand, while Shardul had Jd and 2h. The board came alive with 9h, 4d, 10h, and 5s and Sagar completed his championship run with a Queen high. During the play, Somashekhar Kurkhepally bowed at the #3 position, taking home ₹19,22,126. Ramana E finished 4th, and he took home a cheque of ₹14,22,662.

With this win, Sagar Raj becomes the first poker player to win 2 DPT bracelets. He earlier won the DPT Grand Rush, which was also a bracelet event, making him one of the initial winners in the series. With this win, Sagar Raj gains prominence in the Indian and international poker scene. Before this, he had seen cash only at three series in India, twice in the Baazi Poker Tour match in 2022 and once in the DPT of May in 2024. At the BPT Kickoff, he took ₹145,600. In the same series, at BPT Bounty, he took ₹25,800. At DPT May 2024, he took his best live cash while writing this article, ₹1,036,161.

The DPT Grand 2024 features a thrilling lineup of fifteen events, including five prestigious bracelet events, which means three more players will join the ranks of DPT bracelet winners this season.
