Ruth Hall Becomes Women’s Poker Association Player of the Year

Women’s Poker Association celebrated a Virtual Ladies Poker collaborating with women from across the globe, all leading up to the WPA Virtual Excellence Awards Gala held online and open to the public on 20 June 2020. The week-long event featured interviews with poker professionals, poker training sessions, humanitarian features and industry spotlights.

Ruth Hall was bestowed on winning the Women’s Poker Association Player of the Year. Hall owns the World Series of Poker Circuit Ring, a LIPS Grand Series Gold Bracelet and several other titles, including the Texas Star Ladies Poker Champion for 2020.

The two-time breast cancer survivor and 2009 Golden Nugget poker queen: Hall AKA Ruthless, ambition is to become the next female at the WSOP Main Event Final Table. On winning the prestigious WPA POY award, this is what she had to say, “I noticed my own WPA POY points after the summer when I won two large ladies’ events:  LIPS Championship & Planet Hollywood. Kristi Garcia is another Texas grinder who plays poker for a living and Melisa Singh has been crushing tournaments. Both of these pros with points in second and third are also deserving of this award. I’m humbled to end up on top and encourage more women to get into the game.”

WPA is a global organization and recognition of women’s success in poker is an important part of our goals. The virtual event also awarded 21 recipients with Excellence Awards. The Gala was delayed with the uprising coronavirus and it was a natural step for the association to continue their mission to advance, promote and recognize the growth and development of women in poker to host a virtual gala. It was indeed a success with women joining in live and elevating each other virtually due to the pandemic.

Though Ruth Hall is a Regional Account Executive who plays poker as a hobby. Ruth is a member of the Ladies International Poker Series, Ladies Poker Association, and the Amateur Poker League. She enjoys the friendships she has made by playing poker since 2007, according to her Hendon Mob. The skilled poker player has about $237K in live winnings.
