The World Series of Poker (WSOP) saw some top professionals battling it out for the top spot. Russian player, Radmir ‘KOPOBA’ Sadiro approached the final table with a chip lead. Despite defeating Sadirov twice, Joao Vieira of Portugal could not earn his second gold bracelet at the World Series of Poker.
Sadirov had a commanding lead into the seven-handed final table of Event # 18: $5,000 Short Deck Championship and won it after defeating Joao Vieira in heads-up play. The event had 144 participants, and the top 20 finishers received a share of the $6,84,000 prize pool. Sadirov won the grand prize of $1,69,111 for his efforts. Vieira, the runner-up, settled for $1,22,270 in prize money.

Taiwanese pro Yen-Liang Yao aka ‘yao poker’ finished third this time and bowed out with $88,404. WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Dvoress was a part of the inaugural 2020 WSOP Online Bracelet Events on GGPoker but bowed out of this table with $$63,918. Italian pro Sam Greenwood failed to make a mark and bowed out with $33,413. Between the two Canadian Highroller regulars, Dario Sammartino finished fifth with $46,214 and Daniel Dvoress finished fourth for $63,918. Mukoro Gberevbie aka ‘AnonAnomaly’of Ireland was the first to leave the final table with $24,159.
The final table began with three super quick eliminations in the first half-hour. Vieira began the fight by winning a flip over Mukoro Gberevbie, while Radmir ‘KOPOBA’ Sadirov knocked out Sam Greenwood. Finally, Sammartinolost the bid to claim his first WSOP bracelet when Daniel Dvoress won a short stack war.
Dvoress, a winner in the first 2020 WSOP Online Bracelet Events on GGPoker, was the next to bow out of the event. Sadirov kept the pressure on throughout the final table using open-shoves as his biggest advantage. His moves fetched him a call from Dvoress. The Canadian had an ace-queen lead against Sadirov’s king-ten, but Sadirov got king as the window card.
Sadirov’s hold increased even further when he knocked off Yen-Liang Yao in third place in an all-in on the pre-flop with aces vs jack-ten suited. Vieira wasn’t going down without a fight, so heads-up was a tumultuous affair.
The Portuguese pro Joao Vieira gained advantage with aces and extended his lead even further with a flopped full house. Soon after, Sadirov got an ace on the river to regain his lead in a spectacular classic flip and secured the top spot.
