PUBG: Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology blocks access via VPN Network

The latest developments in the PlayersUnknown’s Battleground (PUBG) ban is that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) of India is looking forward to blocking access to the PUBG game even via VPN and other mobile applications. This issue of blocking access has now come to light as an RTI regarding the usage of VPN to play PUBG recently surfaced on social media.

The reports stated how Indian gamers tried bypassing the ban by playing PUBG through a VPN Network and a different location.
Indian players can download the Korean version of PUBG Mobile and start playing from scratch. Other than the Korean version, players can also play PUBG Mobile Global which can be synced with Facebook and Twitter for saving the game’s progress online.

PUBG Mobile India and 118 other Chinese apps were banned by the government of India in September 2020. Following the ban, PUBG Mobile India had released a trailer during Diwali that the game would return soon. The brand assured that Indian gamers will get a revised version of the game which is yet to release. There were speculations that Reliance industries was going to launch the game in India again, but the deal related to distribution had lost steam. It was also believed that PUBG Corp. was in talks with telecom company Airtel to get distribution rights for the game, but there was no update on that front as well.

The government had decided to crackdown on China based applications following the Galwan Valley clashes in June when 20 Indian soldiers were killed. The government had clarified that the decision to ban the applications was only to safeguard the interests of Indian users and to ensure the safety and security of Indian cyberspace.

Currently, the APK file of PUBG Mobile with a new version is available for downloads everywhere except in India. To read similar articles, keep reading  GutshotMagazine.com for more. Follow us on FacebookInstagram, and Telegram.
