WATCH: Prasit Chowdhury Winning Moment at WPT India 2023 ME

We’ve just witnessed the most amazing winning moment for one of the players in World Poker Tour’s (WPT) recent stop in India. The fourth time they’re hosting an event in India, WPT Prime India 2023 has been a massive success so far and we’re here to talk about the winning moment of the most prestigious Main Event tournament, which ended a few minutes ago.

Day 2 began with 108 players yesterday and it boiled down to the final nine players on the final table when play began today on Day 3, on board the Deltin Royale in Goa. Leading the final table was Prasit Chowdhury and while there were ups and downs on the final table, he managed to claw his way through and win this all-important title, along with a career-best live poker tournament cash.

There was an electric buzz around the poker room when this tournament was in its final stage, with the Main Event taking place alongside the 125k Highroller and the Big Bounty tournament as well. Chowdhury was up against Amit Tejura in heads-up and while there were a few chip exchanges here and there, Chowdhury managed to take it down.

His winnings included ₹86+ Lakh in prize money and a WPT Passport worth $10,400 as well. But apart from the prize money, what was priceless was his reaction when he was finally crowned the WPT Prime India 2023 Main Event champion. He was super emotional and teary-eyed as his KQ off-suit was good enough against Tejura’s A6 of hearts in the final hand.

He couldn’t look and when he saw his opponent’s hole cards, he decided to cover his head in his hands and look down towards the table. There was a huge crowd around them watching the final moment but he refused to look up, too anxious to watch his fate. Eventually, he clipped a King on the river to win with K-pair in the final hand. See the overwhelming winning moment here:

We feel for the runner-up who made it so far but yet ended second to Chowdhury. He had a great run over the three days of this tournament and was heavily rewarded for it, with a pay-cheque of ₹57+ Lakh to his name. Both of them will be ecstatic with their achievements today, beating a number of renowned pros over the last three days, including WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer on the final table who ended 5th.

The next time you see Chowdhury on a poker table around you, beware, because he’s now a WPT Prime Main Event champion. Congratulations Prasith! For similar updates from the world of poker, keep reading Gutshot Magazine
