Wednesday Round Up: Bang, Azhar, Mehrotra Among Others Had A Blockbuster Night


The National Poker Series (NPS) on PokerBaazi has been quite eventful so far. The online poker platform has given all the poker pros and newbies a chance to compete and win big everyday. Other than this series, tournaments like Wednesday Vibes, Destiny and Maverick kept poker players on their toes. Most of the pros from the poker circuit battled it out at these tournaments.

Let’s take a look at who flipped, folded and tasted victory last night. 

Destiny – 26 Lakh GTD

The Destiny tournament on Spartan Poker had 552 entries in total and the top 50 players were paid a min-cash of ₹13,800. This ₹5,500 buy-in tournament was shipped by ‘I’mThePlayboi’ who received a pay cheque of ₹6,31,784. The runner-up in this tournament was Yash Chitre aka ‘Babyshark10’ who cashed ₹5,27,415. 

Bang traversed to the top after battling players like Vishal Ojha (3rd position, ₹2,55,300), Raghav Madan (4th position, ₹1,82,160), Deepak Bothra (5th position, ₹1,15,920), Vishnu Khandelwal (6th position, ₹96,600), Pulkit Goyal (7th position, ₹69,000) and Rohit Behal (8th position, ₹60,720) on the final table. 

Other than these players, pros like Sanish Chhabra (9th position, ₹52,440), Sahil Mahboobani (10th position, ₹37,260), Dhiraj Lakhotia after firing three bullets landed on the 11th position for ₹27,600. Peter Nazareth (12 position, ₹27,600), Vivek Singh (15th position, ₹27,600), Myron Pereira (19th position, ₹23,460), Arsh Grover (20th position, ₹23,460) made money. 

Anmol Mehta aka ‘Anzzzzz’ was the 50th player who received min-cash. The bubble boy in this tournament was Shashank Desai aka ‘reconnecting’ who could not make it in the money despite his efforts. Just like Desai, Haider Madraswala (52nd position), Rajesh Kumar with two re-entries was placed 53rd. Ratul Steves (65th position), Shardul Parthasarathi (66th position), Dhaval Mudgal (68th position), Aman Parakh (72nd position), Devvrat Arya (92nd position), WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer (94th position), Gokul Raj (101 position), Kanchan Sharma (99th position), Siddharth Karia (104th position), Goonjan Mall (142nd position) and Kunal Patni (185th position) fought valiantly but in vain.

Siddhanth Kripalani with 7 bullets, Yohan Patel with 5 bullets, WSOP bracelet winner Nikita Luther with 2 bullets made multiple entries but fell short and could not even make it in the money. The advertised guarantee of ₹26 Lakh was surpassed and a slightly bigger prize pool of ₹27,60,000 was formed.

Wednesday Vibes – ₹8 Lakh GTD

The Wednesday Vibes tournament on Spartan Poker tournament had 587 entries in total and Dhaval Doshi aka ‘Ace of hearts’ nailed the tourney and took a pay cheque of ₹1,06,071. The runner-up was Deepak Ralliaram aka ‘FireDart’ who made ₹80,123 after firing two bullets. 

The advertised guarantee of this tourney was ₹8 Lakh but it was surpassed by a slim margin and the final prize pool stood at ₹8,80,500. Though Doshi shipped the tourney, winner of Destiny tournament on Spartan Poker also tried his hand at this event with two bullets and later busted at 15th position for ₹11,710. 

Notable players who finished in the money were Naresh Veeravalli (16th position, ₹10,389), FTS 2.0 winner Siddharth Karia (25th position, ₹7,308), Shashank Desai (31st position, ₹6,427), Vikram Pratapdan with three bullets (29th position, ₹6,427), Anirban Das (37th position, ₹5,635), Siddharth Gangwar (43rd position, ₹5,018) among others. 

There were a list of pros like Dhaval Mudgal (60th position), Arsh Grover (67th position), Shardul Parthasarathi (64th position), Gokul Raj (71st position), Kunal Patni (84th position), Ankit Wadhawan (110th position) who busted without making any money.

The top 47 players in this ₹1,650 buy-in tournament were paid a min-cash of ₹5,018. The bubble boy in this tournament was Sanish Chhabra aka ‘Sanish21’ who busted at 48th spot.

 Maverick – ₹10 Lakh GTD

The Maverick tournament on Adda52 had 650 entries in total. Abhishek Pathak aka ‘patrick2312’ took home ₹3,75,000 in prize money. The runner-up was Aman Parakh aka ‘karmaPoker’ who received a pay cheque ₹2,17,500. The advertised guarantee of ₹10 Lakh was crushed and a bigger prize pool of ₹15,00,000 was formed. 

Top 72 players were paid a min-cash of ₹3,000. Players like Arsh Grover who shipped MegaStack tournament on Spartan Poker yesterday (24th position, ₹9,000), Vishal Bajaj (14th position, ₹13,500), WSOP bracelet winner Nikita Luther (27th position, ₹8,250), Gokul Raj (41st position ₹6,000), IOPC reg Sanat Mehrotra (47th position, ₹5,250), Gaurav Sood (57th position, ₹3,750) were the ones who made it in the money. 

Kunal Patni aka ‘FloatToMyBoat’ whom we also consider the ideal travel partner was the 72nd player, the last person to receive min-cash of ₹3000.

 Double Jump – ₹25 Lakh GTD

National Poker Series on PokerBaazi is a golden opportunity for the players to win big. The Double Jump tourney had an advertised guarantee of ₹25 Lakh but it was crushed and a massive prize pool of ₹41,10,000 was formed. 

Romit Advani aka ‘title83’ shipped this ₹11,000 buy-in tournament. He laughed his way to the bank with ₹6,91,000 Lakh after defeating 411 entries. The top 45 players were paid a min-cash of ₹23,020. 

Other players who made it in the money were WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant (8th position, ₹1,15,000), IOPC reg Guruprasad Gupta (9th position, ₹86,310), Harshit Sanghi (10th position, ₹62,880), Kumar Vatsal (12th position, ₹62,880), Tanay Hegde (40th position, ₹23,020), Kunal Patni (42nd position, ₹23,020), Shashank Desai (43rd position, ₹23,020) among others.

NPS PKO – ₹5 Lakh GTD

The NPS PKO tournament had an advertised guarantee of ₹5 Lakh but it was crushed by a big margin. The final prize pool of this tournament on PokerBaazi stood at ₹11,18,000. Competing against 745 entries was poker champion Sanat Mehrotra aka ‘mehro2511′ who shipped three tournaments on the same day at the IOPC January 2021 edition.

NPS Freezeout Day 2 – ₹10 Lakh GTD

The Freezeout tournament on PokerBaazi had 104 entries in total. The tournament was shipped by Chanti Nayak aka ‘Majay.’ Nayak was followed by WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant who had a pay day of ₹2,07,000. The tournament entries in total and the top 63 players were paid a min-cash of 5,624. 

The advertised guarantee of this tournament was ₹10 Lakh but it was crushed and a hefty prize pool of ₹15,20,000 was formed. Several other pro players like Dhirendra Kumar (21st position), Anmol Mehta (36th position), Srihari Bang (44th position, ₹7,904), Sanish Chhabra (46th position, ₹6,688), Vishnu Khandelwal (47th position, ₹6,688) finished in the money.

NPS Kick-off – ₹50 Lakh GTD

Mohammad Azhar aka ‘chandlerbing’ shipped the NPS Kick-off tournament on PokerBaazi. Azhar is probably on a winning spree. The advertised guarantee of this tournament was ₹50 Lakh but it was surpassed by a slim margin. The final prize pool stood at ₹59,53,000. 

The runner-up of this tournament was Suraj Nameirakpam aka ‘Walao’ who cashed ₹7.98 Lakh. This tournament had several other sharks like Goonjan Mall (4th position, ₹4,36,000), Dishani Vijay (5th position, ₹3,49,000), Vivek Bajaj (12th position, ₹46,430), mindset coach and pro Maria Kirloskar (20th position, ₹20,240) among others.

 NPS Sprint – ₹6 Lakh GTD

The Sprint tournament on PokerBaazi was shipped by a mystery player ‘akshai’ who clinched the top spot and received a pay cheque of ₹2,59,000. The first runner-up in this ₹2,000 buy-in tourney was yet another anonymous player ‘Bharathugkris’ who cashed ₹1,82,000. Poker pro Anmol Mehta aka ‘anzzzzz’ who cashed ₹1,18,000 was the third runner-up. This tournament had an advertised guarantee of ₹6 Lakh but the final prize pool was more than double. NPS Sprint’s final prize pool stood at ₹15,26,000. 

The top 126 players were paid a min-cash of ₹2,288. Some pro players who made it in the money were 2018 WPT Vietnam winner Dhaval Mudgal (30th position, ₹7,932), Aman Parakh (37th position, ₹6,864), Srihari Bang (44th position, ₹6,864), Dhiraj Lakhotia (76th position, ₹3,661), Shashank Desai (117th position, ₹2,288) among others.
