Thursday Roundup: Arsh Grover & Ankit Wadhwan Continue Their Winning Spree

Thursday night witnessed poker pros and amateurs battling it out with equal vigour to clinch titles. The night saw some power-packed performances and hefty prize pools on offer. Let’s take a look at the action that unfolded.   

NPS #30 (7 Max) Deepstack Championship – ₹50 Lakh GTD

PokerBaazi’s NPS#30 (7 Max) Deepstack Championship was full of action as the poker pros battled it out at the biggest tournament of the night. The highest guarantee of the night was surpassed and the new prize pool stood at ₹60 Lakh. The online poker felts attracted 800 entries, however, only the top 99 places managed a share of the big prize pool, being paid a min-cash of ₹11,400.

Ankit Wadhwan aka ‘d00mtr00p3r’ won the tournament adding a little more than a million to his bankroll (₹10.66 Lakh). Ashish Ahuja aka ‘rocky3705’ finished at the runner-up spot and took home the highest six-figure prize money of ₹7.47 Lakh. The third spot went to Naresh Veeravalli aka ‘Emperor457’ for ₹4.82 Lakh.

NPS#32 Sprint – ₹5 Lakh GTD

The action at PokerBaazi’z NPS#32 Sprint is evident through its prize pool, which doubled the initial guarantee. The final prize pool of ₹11.71 Lakh clearly crushed the advertised guarantee of ₹5 Lakh. The tournament witnessed 1,171 entries. The top 135 places were paid a min-cash of ₹1,639.

Shashank Choudhary aka ‘shazhank’ topped the table with five re-entries winning a cash prize of ₹1.97 Lakh. Chirag Sodha aka ‘miyagi’ finished second with ₹1.38 Lakh, while ‘bluffmaster055’ took home the highest five-figure prize of ₹89,580.

NPS#29 Evening Sprint – ₹5 Lakh GTD

The NPS #29 Evening Sprint also took a sprint to surpass the initial ₹5 Lakh guarantee to reach a final prize pool of ₹10.18 Lakh. The 1,273 entries paid a buy-in of ₹880. Top 144 places were paid a min-cash of ₹1,323.

Kunal Yadav aka ‘callmeifyoucan’ clinched the winning title and cashed ₹1.46 Lakh in prize money. Anonymous player ‘ghatakfox’ and Rohit Mishra aka ‘rohit22rm’ grabbed the second and third spot for ₹1.45 Lakh and ₹77,810 respectively.

NPS#31 PPLO Slam Dunk – ₹6 Lakh GTD

PokerBaazi’s #31 tournament was a blockbuster hit with a final prize pool of ₹10.8 Lakh crushing the ₹6 Lakh guarantee. The top 63 places from the 540 entries were paid a min-cash of ₹3,996.

Anonymous player ‘energetic52’ won the tournament and added ₹2.1 Lakh to his bankroll. Sankalp Marwah aka ‘Wobblegong’ finished at the runner-up spot took a pay cheque of ₹1.47 Lakh, while ‘somzprash’ walked away with ₹94,610 at the third spot 

Mohit Mehta (14th, ₹12,5300), Sandy Lamba (16th, ₹10,800), Ritwik Khanna (17th, ₹10,800), Goonjan Mall (23rd, ₹8,424), Kunal Patni (31st, ₹6,480), Aman Parakh (38th, ₹5,616), Kapil Kumar Vasita (41st, ₹5,616), Advait Rajguru (43rd, ₹5,616), Prince Singh (46th,₹4,752) and Ram Kakkar (53rd, ₹4,752) also ended up in the money.

Trending Thursday –  ₹23 Lakh GTD

Spartan Poker’s Trending Thursday was indeed a trending affair. With 483 entries including some big names in poker playing this tournament, the initial guarantee was crushed by a slim margin. The final prize pool stood at ₹23.50 Lakh. The top 39 places made it in the money. The min-cash paid was ₹16,215.

Annant Jain aka ‘Yennnefer’ topped the table and took a pay cheque of ₹4,71,175. Ankit Wadhwan added ₹3,13,255 to his bankroll from his runner-up spot at this tournament. He also won PokerBaazi’s NPS#30 Deepstack for ₹10,66,000, taking his total earnings for the day to ₹13,13,255. Aman Parakh also added  ₹2,29,125 to his bankroll by finishing third. 

Vinayak Bajaj finished forth nad cashed ₹2,29,125. Mohit Mehta (11th, ₹41,125), IOPC reg Guruprasad Gupta (13th, ₹35,955), Vishal Bajaj (15th, ₹32,430), Anirban Das (20th, ₹25,380), Vivek Singh (28th, ₹18,330), Tathagata Sengupta (33rd, ₹16,215), WSOP bracelet winner, Kartik Ved (35th, ₹16,215), Shardul Parthasarathi (37th, ₹16,215) and Surbhit Grover (38th, ₹16,215) made money at the Trending Thursday tourney. Ronuk Lekhraj bubbled at the 40th spot. He was followed by Goonjan Mall (41st) who could make any money in this tourney.

Monster Stack- ₹9 Lakh GTD

Spartan Poker’s Monster Stack was filled with action and power-packed performances. The 483 entries managed to surpass the advertised guarantee of 9 Lakh as the final prize pool stood at 9.66 Lakh. The top 47 places were paid, and the min-cash stood at ₹5,506.

Anonymous player ‘Vakeel.sahab’ and Rajiv Srivastava made a deal as ‘Vakeel.sahab’ took home ₹1,55,076, and Srivastava settled at the runner-up position for ₹1,52,787. Aniket Waghmare aka ‘Ntwadumela’ stood third grabbing ₹89,644 in prize money which was the highest five-figure prize.

Shardul Parthasarathi (9th, ₹19,320), Guruprasad Gupta (13th, ₹14,296), Vishal Bajaj (14th, ₹12,847), Anish Arora (18th, ₹9,949) and Ronuk Lekhraj (36th, ₹6,182) were also among the top 47 players who made it in the money.

Highroller – ₹12 Lakh GTD

Highroller on PokerStars was a  high-rolling tournament that generated a prize pool of ₹13.93 Lakh, thereby crushing the initial guarantee of ₹12 Lakh. The tournament had 199 entries out of which the top 20 places were paid.  Min-cash for this tourney was ₹9,705.

Arsh Grover aka ‘BiggggTymeR’ and anonymous ‘thisisme’ split the prize money, cashing ₹1,23,148 each. Anonymous player ‘LaganaHiTohHai’ finished third for ₹83,802.

Amar Iyer (7th, ₹30,660), Goonjan Mall (10th, ₹16,643) were some of the well-known names who made it in the money. Others who got busted before the money included Mithun Mahesh (29th), Harsh Dembla (42nd), Kartik Ved (51st), IOPC January 2021 Main Event winner Laksh Pal Singh (55th), Ashish Ahuja (71st), Rubin Labroo (88th) and Sagar Choudhury (90th). Ankit Wadhwan, who won two big tournaments of the night got busted at the 43rd spot before making it in the money at this tournament.

Godfather –  ₹25 Lakh GTD

Adda52’s staple Godfather tournament had all the thrills and chills to offer. The tournament that went on for nine hours attracted more re-entries than its registered players. The total of 575 entries generated a final prize pool of ₹28,75,008 thereby overtaking its advertised guarantee of ₹25 Lakh. The min-cash was ₹12,219 and the top 63 places got paid.

Anonymous player ‘xznny112’ claimed the title by adding ₹4,78,307 to his bankroll. Kshitij Kucheria aka ‘kmk1127’ finished second for ₹3,90,353. Karann Dembla aka ‘ICMsucks’ had a payday of ₹3,39,825 at the third position.
