IOPC Day 2: Manish Lakhotia, Aniket Waghmare, Vinay Rajpal & Others Clinch Top Titles


As India Online Poker Championship July 2021 (IOPC) goes on with full blast, the second day was full of action, drama and unexpected turn of events. Players put their best skills to work to clinch the prestigious IOPC titles. Here’s what Day 2 looked like:

IOPC #7 – ₹3.5 Lakh

This tourney had all the drama going. With a prize pool of ₹4,95,600 which crushed the initial guarantee, this tournament attracted 407 players to the online felts. 

Brijesh Negi aka ‘AilaaProAaya’ shipped IOPC #7 and he laughed his way to the bank with ₹ 81,312.11. The runner-up spot was claimed by ‘moksh 7.12,’ who walked away with ₹ 75,793.09 in prize money.

IOPC #8 – ₹5.75 Lakh

IOPC #8 was no less than a treat for all poker lovers. The 488 entries crushed the advertised guarantee to generate a final prize pool of ₹7.32 Lakh. Top 39 players were paid and they received a min-cash of ₹5,050.

Millionaire Legends and Mastermind winner, Aniket Waghmare aka ‘Ntwadumela’ emerged victorious and cashed ₹1,46,766.00 in prize money. Waghmare is elated after the win as he shares, “It’s always special to win an IOPC event and get that badge. And I’m stoked to get it done on the second day itself. Looking forward to grinding in  the series and hopefully ship a few more.”

Anonyous player ‘Drunkenstein’ finished second and grabbed the highest five-figure prize money of ₹ 97,575.60.

IOPC #9 – ₹4 Lakh

This tourney too surpassed its initial guarantee to generate a final prize pool of ₹6,28,800. This tournament witnessed 786 entries and the top 63 players were paid a min-cash of ₹2,735.

This exciting tourney was shipped by WPT India 2018 Ship IT Event champion, Sacheen Ramchandani aka ‘Chiefisback’. Ramchandani had a payday of ₹ 1,07,320. The second spot was nailed by ‘Insanely_lucky,’ who walked away with ₹ 91,065 in prize money.

IPOC #10 Monday Prime – ₹23 Lakh

IOPC #10 Monday Prime was one of the biggest tournaments of the night. The advertised guarantee of this tournament was crushed by more than half a million as the final prize pool stood at ₹30.34 Lakh. It witnessed 1,517 entries battling it out for the top spots. However, only the top 143 places managed to grab a min-cash of ₹5,643.

Saroj Mehta aka ‘Pepperchino’ clinched the title and added ₹ 4,37,363 to his bankroll. The runner-up was ‘Chowmeinchoudhary,’ who managed to win an impressive sum of ₹ 3,48,677.

Other players who made it in the money include WSOP bracelet winner, Abhinay Iyer (5th, ₹1,38,047), Neel Joshi (16th, ₹24,666), FTS 2.0 winner, Sidhharth Karia (22nd, ₹18,598), Arsh Grover (30th, ₹13,349), Kunal Patni (33rd, ₹11,559), Ankit Wadhawan (38th, ₹11,559), IOPC #11 winner Manish Lakhotia (46th, ₹9,799), Vishnu Khandelwal (61st, ₹8,404), Sagar Choudhury (70th, ₹8,404), Gaurav Sood (74th, ₹7,099), Vivekk Dube (76th, ₹7,099), Guruprasad Gupta (78th, ₹7,099), IOPC #7 winner Aniket Waghmare (89th, ₹7,099), Vishal Bajaj (96th, ₹6,341), IOPC #4 Blaze of Glory winner, Harshad Barve (99th, ₹6,341), Sahil Mahboobani (119th, ₹6,341), Amar Iyer (125th, ₹5,643) and Karan Malhotra (35th, ₹5,6431). 

Naresh Veeravalli was the bubble boy who busted at the 144th spot. Others who left the tables without making any money include Tathagata Sengupta (151st), Abhimanyu Mittal (152nd), Ronuk Lekhraj (153rd), Laksh Pal Singh (157th), Rajeev Kumar (159th), Myron Pereira (162nd), Sachin Sharma (165th), Rohan Bhasin (184th), IOPC January 2021 Millionaire United winner, Siddhanth Kripalani (185th), and two time The Pride winner, Arjanveer Singh Chadha (206th).

IOPC #11 Monday Spotlight – ₹6 Lakh

Living up to its name, IOPC #11 was in the spotlight for it’s thrilling gameplay. The tourney surpassed its initial guarantee to generate a final prize pool of ₹7,23,000. From 241 entries, only the top 31 places managed to draw a min-cash of ₹6,362.

Megastack winner, Manish Lakhotia aka ‘the kid’ shipped this tournament and grabbed ₹1,52,914 in prize money. Another pro player Guruprasad Gupta aka ‘DONKAKING’ finished second after battling it out with Lakhotia, to grab ₹1,02,955 in prize money.

Players who made it in the money include names like Aman Parakh (3rd, ₹72,589), Tathagata Sengupta (10th, ₹13,230), Kunal Patni (17th, ₹9,615), and Ankit Wadhawan (20th, ₹8,531). Sachin Sharma, who finished 8th on the final table at the IOPC #4 Blaze of Glory tournament was placed on the 29th spot for ₹6,362.

Other notable players who left empty handed were WSOP bracelet winner, Kartik Ved (33rd), Sahil Mahboobani (36th), Rohan Bhasin (41st), Arun Sriram (50th), Vikranth Varma (52nd), Uttam Kumar Sinha (55th), Rajeev Kumar (64th), WSOP bracelet winner, Abhinav Iyer (70th), Myron Periera (71st), Amar Iyer (74th), Arsh Grover (86th), Mohit Mehta (87th), IOPC #4 Blaze of Glory second runner-up, Siddharth Karia (91st), Vivek Singh (116th), Siddharth Gangwar (125th) and Arjanveer Singh Chadha (126th).

IOPC #12 All Rounder – ₹10 Lakh

This tourney offered a million in guarantee. This tournament was nothing less than a battle as 704 entries fought hard for the top spot. The final prize pool of ₹14.08 Lakh clearly surpassed the initial guarantee. Top 63 places were paid a min-cash of ₹6,124.

This All Rounder tournament was shipped by Vinay Rajpal aka ‘BeepBeepImaJeep.’ Rajpal took a pay cheque of ₹ 2,34,332. This player also shipped The Big Show on PokerBaazi on the same night. ‘APOPHIS’ finished at the runner-up spot and cashed ₹ 1,67,751.

Neel Joshi (9th, ₹25,626), Vikranth Varma (11th, ₹ 21,260), Amit Kaushik (20th, ₹13,094), Aman Parakh (31st, ₹8,870), Siddharth Karia (34th, ₹7,462), Vivek Singh (35th, ₹ 7,462), Siddharth Ganwar (44th, ₹ 6,476), Voyager winner, Abhimanyu Mittal (48th, ₹ 6,336) and Mohit Mehta (54th, ₹6,336) were some of the players who made it to the top 63 places.

Rohan Bhasin (69th), Laksh Pal Singh (74th), Kunal Patni (99th), Ankit Wadhawan (100th), WSOP bracelet winner, Kartik Ved (116th), Naresh Veeravalli (122nd), Tathagata Sengupta (126th), IOPC #7 winner, Aniket Waghmare (133rd), Arun Sriram (137th), Vishal Bajaj (139th), Anirban Das (142nd), Blaze of Glory winner, Harshad Barve (144th), Siddhanth Kripalani (149th) among others left the table empty-handed.
