Poker Masters Main Event sees low participation

Throughout the week, there have been quite a few entries registering to the various $10k, $25k and $50k events taking place at the 2018 Poker Masters in Las Vegas. However, the much-anticipated Main Event didn’t see that much of a response, with only 15 entries registering on Day 1, of which nearly half busted their stacks by the end of the day.

The $100,000 Main Event was the highlight of the series, but only 8 players remain at the end of Day 1, and action was shorted to just five levels of play, as compared to the original plan of 10 levels for the day. The late registration period will also end by Level 6 on Day 2, as many players would be guaranteed a finish in the money if the tournament was played as per the original schedule.

At the end of Day 1, it’s David Peters who leads the chip stacks after having won the opening event of the series a few days back. However, he hasn’t cashed since then so he’s out of the race for the Purple Jacket. Ali Imsirovic on the other hand, won two consecutive titles and is among the 8 survivors here too, so he seems a strong favourite to win the Jacket.

Also among the survivors are Justin BonomoChristoph VogelsangRainer KempeDominik Nitsche and others – all high-stakes pros. The action was slow on Day 1 but we’re hoping for a better participation when Day 2 kicks off at the PokerGO Studio at the Aria later today.

Current chip counts:

  1. David Peters – 620,500
  2. Justin Bonomo – 495,000
  3. Seth Davies – 466,500
  4. Rainer Kempe – 464,000
  5. Ali Imsirovic – 422,500
  6. Christoph Vogelsang – 250,500
  7. Nick Petrangelo – 170,000
  8. Dominik Nitsche – 124,000
