Nik Airball Wore An Upswing Poker Patch On A DOG Printed Shirt! Doug Polk Is Fuming


Holy cow! Or should we say holy dog? What’s the matter with the dog? Well, take a good look at Nik Airball’s shirt and you will have all your answers. The headline making poker personality, donned a shirt with a black dog printed on it and an (wait for it) Upswing Poker patch. Yes, now you know why Doug Polk went WTF!  The three-time World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner had no patience for the crap Airball was throwing his way. But was that all? No wait!

There is a story behind this Upswing Poker patch and dog-print shirt. Polk took to his Twitter handle and tagged Phil Galfond for that cheap stunt. The Upswing Poker founder must have been fuming when he wrote, “I know we’ve had our differences @PhilGalfond but paying airball to wear an Upswing patch? You have gone too far.”

To summarise the situation, Polk accused the Run It Once founder of stooping too low when he paid Airball money to wear the Upswing Poker patch and let’s not be in denial about the dog printed shirt. Fashion police would have declared a state of emergency on seeing that shirt in that print and colour. Airball sure needs a wardrobe upgrade but he also needs a bank balance upgrade. Just last week poker Twitter was discussing how it looks terrible on Airball to lose $1 Million to Matt Berkey in a heated heads-up clash. 

Yes, you all know how that battle of egos ended. Berkey was rich by $1 Million and Airball posted an apology on his Twitter handle for being a—how do we say this? Ummm an over confident jackass? Let’s not take that route afterall the Los Angeles resident did realise it was wrong in going after Berkey like that.

But the founder of Solve for Why Poker went for the no holds barred stance. Huh? Berkey weighed in on the Polk-Galfond-Airball drama. He replied to Polk’s tweet saying, “I thought for sure that it came with the shirt.” (someone sure knows how to rub salt on wounds).

Did we forget to mention what Galfond had to say about Polk’s tweet? Of course not! We can’t forget about that. Galfond replied to the Upswing Poker founder by stating, “Didn’t even have to pay him! Just offered him a 50/50 split on an Upswing HUNL course.” Ouch! That must have hurt Polk real bad. The Las Vegas resident who has three WSOP bracelets to his credit further tweeted, “It’s going to be the best content there has ever been. That’s a promise. Happy Mother’s Day to all the great moms out there.”

Poker Twitter Erupts

How can it be that Polk is upset, tweets about it and Twitterati sits quiet? Hell no! Poker Twitter was on its toes and added the best fuel to keep the fire going. Hilarious comments came up and we would love for you to take a look at them. Upswing Poker can be Downswing Poker, lost a million dollars but won a Upswing shirt, Airball being the lead instructor at Upswing Poker, and more such replies filled the comments section. There was enough matter out there which if Polk sees would definitely go flambé.
