Famous Poker Personality Molly Bloom Reveals Italian Mob ‘Put A Gun In Her Mouth’ 

Molly Bloom, aka ‘Poker Princess,’ shook the poker industry when she made some revelations about her journey during a recent appearance on the popular podcast “the Diary of a CEO.’ Talking to host Steven Bartlet, she spoke about the infamous Hollywood home games and how her life was in jeopardy due to poker.

Bloom made a name for himself by running high-stakes poker games a decade ago, which saw quite a few A-list celebrities get involved, like Ben Affleck and Tobey Maguire, along with other billionaire investors and entrepreneurs.

Bloom, who is known to be a former skier originally from Colorado and an aspiring Olympian, shared with Bartlett how she vetted new players to the private games during the 2010s. She spoke about running background checks and looking at the finances of all the prospective players as a lot of high-profile people and money were involved.

She also explained how some shady characters managed to slip through the cracks. They included some Russian-American businessmen who had ties to the Russian mob. Those people were said to be involved in an illegal gambling ring alongside the biggest insurance fraud scheme in New York.

Speaking on the podcast, The ‘poker princess’ revealed how she would receive anywhere between 1% to 5% of the profits from players who won, which could not mean much in small-stake games but would go quite high where millions of dollars were at stake. Molly Bloom shared how she would make nearly $20,000 or more in a night during her private games.

Italian Mob threatens Molly Bloom 

While interacting with Bartlet on the Diary of a CEO, Bloom shared details on just how dangerous the game became in 2013. Citing how much money she made, she revealed how the Italian mob wanted a piece of the pie. 

Speaking on the podcast, Molly Bloom spoke about receiving a call from an apparent mobster stating that she must give his organisation part of the profits. After politely declining the request, Bloom faced some serious issues that put her life in jeopardy.

She is quoted in the interview saying, “They sent this terrifying guy to my apartment that put a gun in my mouth, something that you just never forget, and he beat the hell outta me and took everything in my safe, including photographs, a couple of things that I had from my grandmother.”

The unnamed person threatened to take further action against Molly Bloom and her family. However, the crime organisation member who attacked her was arrested soon after and did not hear from them again.

It is worth remembering that Molly Bloom also faced criminal action, which included major fines as well as 10 years in prison. However, she was sentenced to probation in May 2014 after she admitted to being a key player in an illegal gambling ring reportedly worth $100 Million. She shared about feeling a sense of relief after the judge revealed that she would not be going to federal prison. 

She said, “I get a judge that’s very disappointed with me, but ultimately a pretty reasonable guy who said, ‘listen, you were running poker games and it seems you’ve done a lot to change your life. I’m not going to sentence you to prison,'” Bloom recollects of her sentencing day. “It’s hard to adequately express to you how big that moment is,” she added further.
