Meet Mohit Bohra: Natural8 India Player Who Won A Package To APT Taipei 2024

Natural8 India hosted an India exclusive tournament for APT Taipei 2024. The top six players from this event were to receive free tickets to the Main Event or the Mini Main Event, depending on the positions they finished on, among other benefits. Today, we will look into a well-known poker player from the Indian circuit—Mohit Bohra.

This player finished 6th in the India exclusive tournament by Natural8 India for APT Taipei 2024. Bohra’s chip stack stands at 37,810, and if he makes it in the top 3, he could grab a ticket to the APT Taipei 2024 Main Event (worth ₹1.85 Lakh) and free accommodation worth ₹90K.

Who is poker pro Mohit Bohra?

Bohra hails from Ahmedabad, Gujarat and currently resides in Goa. The 31-year-old has been playing tournament poker professionally for the last three years.

In May 2023, we saw Bohra ship the 6-Handed Hyper Turbo tournament at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Cambodia. But how many of us know about his journey in poker? We spoke to Bohra, and he revealed some interesting things about his journey in poker.

This poker pro graduated from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai. Soon after, he joined a startup before starting to work for his family business. It was during the COVID-19 lockdown that Bohra started studying poker and everything that came along with the card game. However, this was not when Bohra was introduced to poker. It was back in college when Bohra got into playing poker cash games.

In the first year at the hostel, Bohra played on stakes of ₹1/2 and gradually moved up to stakes of ₹50/100 in his final year. He admits to never missing a poker night during those days.

We asked this Final Table Series (FTS) September 2021 Event #13 winner what attracted him to this game of skill, and he replied saying, “I started enjoying the freedom, the lifestyle, the challenges, the thrill of running deep in a tournament, the feeling of playing a hand perfectly and the curiosity of learning something new when someone owns you at the table.” 

For someone who loves the game so deeply, it is understandable that he grinds for five to six days a week. When it comes to live poker, apart from APPT, Bohra marked his attendance at the World Poker Tour (WPT), Asian Poker Tour (APT) Summer Series, APT Billions and Asian Poker Festival (APF), Hanoi.

We concluded our conversation with Bohra by asking him about his most memorable moment in poker so far. He happily mentioned that finishing fourth in the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Main Event in April 2022 was his biggest win so far and hence was the most cherished moment.
