MGM announces reopening of fourth Las Vegas strip property

The lights, fire and fountains are back in one of the world’s most electric cities, Nevada, Las Vegas! After several dark days since March 2020, more than half of the nation’s major casinos have reopened. Operators and owners are ready to ramp things up with another round of hotels and casinos opening their doors to visitors.

According to a report, Excalibur Hotel & Casino, the latest Las Vegas property owned by MGM Resorts International will once again open the doors on Thursday, 11 June. “We are very pleased by the enthusiasm we are seeing from guests ready to come back to Las Vegas,” said Bill Hornbuckle, acting CEO and president of MGM Resorts.

“As business demand increases, we are able to open additional properties and bring more of our employees back to work,” he added. A week ago, MGM reopened Bellagio and the MGM Grand while Caesars Entertainment opened The Flamingo, Harrah’s and Caesars Palace but the poker rooms are yet to start.

Casino employees as well as visitors have to abide by several social distancing norms. There will be plexiglass barriers in the areas where distancing could be a bit difficult, standalone washing stations will also be made throughout the casino. There will also be strict screening and temperature checks and wearing mask is the basic requirement.

“We will continue monitoring business trends in the weeks and months ahead and look forward to sharing news around additional property openings here in Las Vegas, and around the country, as it becomes available,” Hornbuckle said.

On Tuesday, 9 June, MGM Resorts stated that it is going to open Luxor, The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay Place on June 25 at 10 am. The Aria, Mandalay Bay and Four Seasons Las Vegas will reopen on July 1 at 10 am and 11 am. “It was exciting and emotional to see the energy in Las Vegas last week as we welcomed back our employees and reopened our doors to guests for the first time in months,” said Hornbuckle.
