Logitech Joins Hands WIth AbleGamers To Host Esports Tournament For The Differently Abled

Switzerland-based computer software brand Logitech, AbleGamers, and Mount Sinai will be hosting an esports tournament for the differently-abled in 2021. AbleGamers is a charitable organization that brings gaming closer to differently-abled people.

The Adaptive esports tournament is the first event in this league, which will kick-start from Autumn 2021. The tournament will involve a popular soccer racing hybrid Rocket League game and will also feature other video games. Along with Logitech and AbleGamers, Mount Sinai, a New York-based academic medical system, will be partnering with the tournament.

Previously, Logitech had included differently-abled gamers in the competition that ran in the fall of 2020. This fall, Logitech has planned to expand the competition to the public in selective regions. The event is being organized by Beyond, a voluntary welfare organization and the competitions will be run on Challonge, a tournament platform.

In the past, AbleGamers helped millions of gamers through the Xbox Adaptive Controller and APX. The charitable organization has received support from several celebrities in the past, including Brie Larson, who shared the work of AbleGamers on her social media and asked people to check their incredible work.

Talking about such initiatives, Mark Barlet, the founder of AbleGamers said, “Our mission is to enable play to combat social isolation.”

The website of AbleGamers reads as “People with disabilities are at a heightened risk of social isolation, and AbleGamers knows that video games can be the perfect gateway to community participation, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable shared experiences. That’s why it’s crucial to make sure these experiences are developed with accessibility as a priority and inclusion as the goal.”

Along with AbleGamers, GameSpot will also be joining the brand as media partners for covering the ‘Play for All’ 2021 esports events. In the past, during the ‘Play for All’ multi-week event, GameSpot was the platform that covered the events to show esports enthusiasts all the action that was taking place during the tournaments.
