Joey Saha takes big chip lead into Day 2 of DPT HighRoller

Yesterday was Day 2 of the February 2019 edition of Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) where three tournaments were being played side by side. The opening tournament – INR 15k Deep Dive – was the first to wrap up proceedings with Nikita Luther emerging victorious. Apart from that, the INR 65k HighRoller completed Day 1 while the INR 35k Main Event completed its first starting flight, 1A.

The HighRoller is a prestigious tournament and an important part of the DPT line-up of tournaments, with Eka Vedantham being the current defending champion. Yesterday too, we saw some intense poker action on the tables in Deltin Royale, and Day 2 of the tournament will resume today, with Jai ‘Joey’ Saha sitting pretty as the chip leader.

Current stats:

  • Buy-in: INR 65,000
  • Entries: 86
  • Survivors: 38
  • Level: 10
  • Blinds: 500/1000-1000

Among the many names to sign up to the tournament last night was Adda52 Team Pro Kunal Patni, Adda52 Celebrity Pro Minissha Lamba, Meherzad Munsaf, Deepak Bothra, MadOverPoker Pro Zarvan Tumboli, Kavish Kukreja, Dhaval Mudgal and others, but very few of these known names managed to bag their chips at the end of Day 1.

Joey Saha is one person who has been making a name for himself in online poker of late, with massive wins coming in recent times, the Diwali Series Main Event on PokerStars and the prestigious IOPC Millionaire Main Event to name a few. Now, he’s ready to take this form into the live world, ending Day 1 with a massive chip lead.

He currently holds a stack of 354,200 chips, which is miles ahead of NJ Niranjan who progresses with a stack of 219,900, placed second. Ram Kakkar, Ashish Munot, Deepak Singh, Jayjit Ray, Shravan Chhabria and of course, Nikita Luther, were some of the others rounding up the top chip stacks.

Top ten chip counts:

  1. Jai Saha – 354,200
  2. NJ Niranjan – 219,900
  3. Ram Kakkar – 198,800
  4. Ankit Kapoor – 177,300
  5. Rohit K Jha – 146,300
  6. Ashish Munot – 126,300
  7. Deepak Singh – 104,800
  8. Jayjit Ray – 101,200
  9. Pranav Bagai – 97,300
  10. Asheque Elahi – 91,400

Registration continues on Day 2 for a while but it’s unlikely that we go past last year’s tally of 166 entries. For more updates on Day 2 of the HighRoller as well as an update on the DPT Main Event, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com.
