How often do you get busted in a poker tournament and get $10,000 back just because the player who busted you felt bad? Don’t worry, we are not trying to quiz you over this. We are here to tell you a heart-warming story. The four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus shared an incident on his Twitter handle that happened sometime back, and we are sure, it won a million hearts.
Ausmus who ranks 75th on the All Time Money List (Hendon Mob) shared how he got eliminated from a 25K tourney and then the player who busted him returned $10,000 from the one million prize money he won later on in another tournament. Not just this, Ausmus went on to ask a very crucial question. He further added who in poker is this nice to return the money just because you busted!
Once I was playing a large field 25k tourney. I was busted by a friend and they looked at me and out of the blue said “you get a 1% freeroll”. The next day they came by my table and gave me 10k of the 1 million they won. Who the hell in poker could be this nice?

Well, this wasn’t the end of story for the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em – US Poker Open #5 winner. Many of his followers replied to his tweet with probable answers. It wasn’t long before Ausmus again took to his Twitter handle and revealed who that player was. The American poker pro tweeted saying it was Greg Merson who had grabbed one million in prize money from another event, and returned $10,000 to Ausmus which was a very sweet gesture by the WSOP 2012 Main Event winner. Once again the story doesn’t end. Merson replied to Ausmus’ tweet by saying that he even forgot about returning the sum to the latter.
Haha forgot about this!

Another interesting tweet by Ausmus was made in July 2022 when he admitted that complaining in poker helps immensely. As insane as this sounds it is true for the WSOP 2022 Circuit – August Online Circuit (NV/NJ) – $200,000 GTD NLH Main Event 8-Max winner. The 16-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth also replied to Ausmus’ tweet and so did Allen Kessler. Hellmuth recently made headlines when he clicked a selfie with poker legend Johnny Chan and broke the internet. Interestingly he also ran into Poker Hall of Famer Eli Elezra on the same day.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the 18 years I’ve played poker for a living it’s that complaining helps immensely….I mean look at @phil_hellmuth wsop results

As far as Ausmus’ poker game is concerned, he is going strong. Apart from WSOP.com Event 10 win, he also won the $1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha game at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood. He shared this happy news on his Instagram handle. The runner-up in this event was David Moreno.
