Triton Poker Player: Jason Koon

Triton Poker Series is one of the elite poker series across the globe, with some of the most well-known high-rollers grinding at the series regularly. Ever since its inception in 2016, it has seen massive success and an overwhelming response from the players.

One of the players who has been a regular crusher at the series is GGPoker ambassador Jason Koon. Talk about a Triton Poker series, and you cannot miss Koon. The 37-year-old, too, is likely never to miss a Triton Poker Series. So let’s have a look at Jason Koon’s Triton Poker history, records and stats. 

Who Is Jason Koon?

Jason Koon is a West Virginia-based professional poker player with a long list of poker achievements to flaunt on his poker resume. But poker was not always on the cards for this pro. He attended Lewis County High School in 2003 and received his Master’s in Business Administration and Finance from the college. Following an injury and the will to avoid boredom, his roommate introduced him to the game, and it was there that Koon realised he could make money by playing poker. 

Eventually, he started playing poker online in 2006 on sites like PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. He began his live poker journey two years later in 2008. He has one World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet and ranks 5th on Hendon Mob’s All-Time Money List.

Jason Koon and Triton Poker’s association started in 2018 when he played his first-ever Triton Poker Series in Montenegro. He cashed at two of the three events he played, including one title in this edition. The former PartyPoker Team Pro final tabled the first event he played, 250K Short Deck Ante Only, and finished fourth for $169,936. Later, he took down the 1M Short Deck Ante Only event and pocketed $3,579,836, which remains to be his best live cash to date. With that, Koon had proved that he and Triton Poker would go a long way together. 

He recorded two final table cashes at Triton Poker Jeju 2018 edition later that year. The Triton Poker Jeju 2019 proved to be one of the best editions for Koon, with four cashes, including two titles. Here he won the 1M Short Deck Ante Only event for $2,840,945, followed by the NLH Triton Refresh for $973,306.

Jason Koon Grabs His Fifth Triton Poker Title

At Triton Poker Montenegro 2019, Koon registered three final table cashes, including one runner-up finish. He recorded three more cashes later that year at Triton Poker London. At Triton Poker Cyprus 2022, the RunItOnce coach registered two fifth-place finishes.

He clinched his fourth Triton Poker title after two years at Triton Poker Madrid 2022 in the 150K Short Deck One Bullet event and pocketed $1,863,228. He also cashed at two other events at this edition. Later that year, he earned five more cashes at Triton Poker Northern Cyprus 2022 edition. 

In March 2023 became the only player to have five Triton Poker titles to his name after he took down the 50K NLH event at the Triton Poker Vietnam 2023 edition for $574,000.

To wrap it up, Koon has a total of $16,791,352 in earnings from the Triton Poker series, which makes him the third-most moneyed player on the Triton Poker All Time Money list. Additionally, he also shares the numero uno spot on Triton Poker’s Most Cashes list with Paul Phua, both having 26 cashes each.
